Govenlock. Scripture from Ezekiel
22: 23-30 was read by Paul Jewitt.
The choir sang an anthem “The
Family of God". Sermon topic was
“Contact”.
Majestic Wl
hears 4-H
members
On June 8 the Majestic Wo
men’s Institute held its June
meeting.
The president Edna McLellan
opened the meeting in the usual
manner. The roll call “Doyou save
money, drivingtoalargesuper-
market to grocery shop?", had
some interesting answers with
everyone agreeing it didn't pay to
shop out of town.
Jane DeVries and Evelyn Mair
were the convenors for the month.
Jane read some smiles. Shewas
followed by Freda Pipe and Alice
Brothers with their gifted fingers
on the piano.
Marg MacLeod read an interest
ing motto on “Living within one’s
means.” There was a report from
Ruth Galbraith on her trip in May
on the convention. It dealt with
recycling which is a great concern
to everyone. She gave the quote:
“If you are not part of the solution,
then you are part of the problem. ’ ’
Members were fortunate to have
two4H members present. Ruth
Higgins spoke on her experiences
with 4H clubs. Cindy Stute spoke
on her weekend at Leadership
Camp ending her speech with “If
you fail to plan then you plan to
fail.”
A skit was organized by Freda
Pipe and Iona Moore who chose
volunteers from the members.
The bazaar date was set for
October 21, 1988. Members then
celebrated two special birthdays
for Jessie Engel who will be 90 and
Jennie Turnbull who will be 90,
both on June 16. Lunch was served
of cake and ice cream on behalf of
these two ladies.
The meeting was then closed
with the next meeting August 5 at
Blyth Theatre. Persons who are
going are to be at the library at 1:30
p.m.

He said “Let us focus on
Children, Children mirror our
mistakes’’. Scripture portions
from Matt: 18, Timothy 12, Psalm
8, and Isaiah 11:6- emphasized his
words, concluding the scripture
with “A little child shall lead
them”. Jesus came as an infant.
Each of us is a child. Some have bad
memories. Let them come out
quietly and gently. Verses from
“Please, Hear What I’m Not
Saying” and “Let’s Celebrate”,
gave further emphasis to his
message - “Give, Live, Love.”
Mrs. Gordon extended her
appreciation to all who had helped
before, during and after the
service, then concluded the wor
ship period with a suitable verse
and the Benediction.
A chicken barbecue and social
hour on the church lawn and in the
Women’s Institute hall were then
enjoyed.
Announcements were that next

Breakfast, Sunday. June 26 9:45 -
10:45 a.m. with a silver collection;
U.C.W. meeting Monday, June 20
at 8 p.m. in the church where Rev.
Dave Snihur will speak about his
trip to England and Scotland.

Bernice Norman, Marion Hunking
and Helen Lawson were at Visitors
Day at Brucefield Church on
Tuesday, June 7 at 2 p.m. Pictures
were shown.
Fifteen members of Londesboro
Happy Gang Seniors attended
Seniors Day at Huronview on
Tuesday, June 7 at 12:45 p.m.
Dinner was enjoyed. Huron
Strings entertained as well as step
dancing.
Clifford Shobbrook returned
home from University Hospital last
week.
Hazel Watkins and Beth Knox
enjoyed a bus trip with the Hensall
Horticulture Society into Bruce
County to see the wildflowers,
travelling as far as Red Bay. They
had dinner at 6 p.m. in Paisley
United Church.
Lucille White from Toronto
visited last week with Meland Barb
Knox and family and Beth Knox,
Londesboro. Lucille and Beth
visited with Hazel Petts in London.
The sympathy of the community
is extended to Laura Lyon and Bert
and Murray Lyon on the sudden
passing of her son-in-law and
brother-in-law Ron Neil of London.
The sympathy of the community
is extended to the family of Miss
Ruby McVittie who passed away
this week at Huronview.
On Thursday, June 9, several
members of Londesboro W.I. were
on a bus trip with the Summerhill
Ladies Group. Places visited were
Bruce Nuclear Power Develop
ment at Douglas Point and back to
Wingham for supper, then to Royal
Homes, Wingham where they saw
how the homes were built and
viewed the three model hdmes. It
was very much enjoyed by all
present.
