Phone 887-9487 People around Belgrave Belgrave friends were saddened recently to learn of the death of Miss Zina Hop wood whopassed away in Vancouver, B.C. Prior to moving West, Miss Hopwood was a Belgrave resident. Douglas Bieman of Kincardine -spent Saturday with his mother Mrs. Agnes Bieman. Mrs. Clara Black of Campbell- ville; Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Schreiber, Milton; Mr. and Mrs. James Anderson and Mr. and Mrs. Jeffery Anderson of Guelph were weekend visitors with Mrs. Sarah Anderson. On Sunday afternoon Mr. and Mrs. George Michie attended the open house at the new Cancer Clinic building which is situated on the new location of Victoria Hospital, London. Belgrave WMS meets The Belgrave W.M.S. held their meeting on Monday, June 6 at the home of Mrs. Hazel Dalrymple of Blyth. Mrs. Ivy Cloakey read the call to worship and hymn, “Sweet is the Solomon Voice’’ was sung. Scrip­ ture was from John, Chapter 10 and was read by Mrs. Mac Scott. Prayer was led by Mrs. Garner Nicholson. Mrs. Cloakey read a story “Sea Shells”. Mrs. Nichol­ son gave the topic “Walking Where Jesus Walked.” The secretary’s report was given by Mrs. Cloakey also the financial report. The roll call was answered with a plant named in the Bible. Mrs. Nicholson gave a report of the Spring Rally held in Molesworth. She read twopoems, “Where Wild Roses Grow” and “Old Fashioned Things”. Mrs. Dalrymple read “Beauty.” The hymn, “Simple Trusting Every day” was sung. Mrs. Cloakey closed the meeting with prayer and the hostess served lunch. All the ladies expressed their thanks to Mrs. Dalrymple. anniversary celebrated A piano - organ prelude of inspiring sacred music with Mrs. Donald R. Procter as pianist and Mrs. George Procter, organist, welcomed members of Knox Unit­ ed, Calvin-Brick and visitors as they filed into Knox United Church, Sunday morning, June 12 for its Sunday School Anniver­ sary service. The sanctuary and vestibule were tastefully decorated with multi-coloured arrangements of summer flowers. A bud vase with tiny white blossoms and greenery graced each window sill. The children’s choir entered to the processional hymn “All Things Bright and Beautiful” and took their allotted places in the choir. Primary members with their teach- ers, occupied the central front pews. The Call to Worship was read responsively by Mrs. Robert Gor­ don, Superintendent and the ca­ pacity congregation numbering more than two hundred. The 20-voice choir rendered “Love the Lord” and “Children of the Lord” as anthems with organ accompaniment. A sextet compos­ ed of Grace Carmichael, Margie Gordon, Jayne Vincent, Karrin Marks, Lindsay Michie, and Can­ dice Irwin sang, “Jacob’s Lad­ der”, “Pass It On” and “It’s a Small World”, with guitar accom­ paniment by Kate Procter. The congregation joined the group, for the last number. Children’s hymns were interspersed throughout the service. Scripture relating Jesus’ visit, at 12 years of age to Jerusalem from Luke 2: 41-52 was read by Heather Hopper. The service calendars were distributed by Carol Hopper and Dianne Black. The offering was received by Carol Hopper, Dianne Black, Ross Higgins and Murray Scott. Mrs. Connie Kuc introduced the guest speaker, Rev.
