NOTICE To book the Memorial Hall The Blyth Volunteer Firemen went a long way toward increasing the public’s awareness of their role in the community on May 30 as they took the department’s emergency vehicles, life-saving and fire-fighting equipment to Blyth Public School for demonstrations to the students. Above, from left, Lieutenant Paul Josling, Chief Irvin Bowes and Fireman Brad Montgomery speak to a group of intermediate students. Students get fire safety lesson by John Ramirez and Stephanie Lentz A sudden fire bell at 1:10 p.m. on Monday, May 30, gave the Blyth Public School students a start. The teachers and pupils hustled out of the school through their regular fire exits to find members of the Blyth Fire Department and their equipment on the school lawn. At that point, they discovered the drill was part of a Fire Safety Demon stration. After a second fire drill, groups of students gathered out side to watch a display and a demonstration of the equipment. We would like to thank the firemen fortheir time. The activity was educational and interesting.
