This lovely young lady in her spring bonnet was one of close to 350 people who found their favourite kind of pie at the Melville Presbyterian Church’ s annual Maytime Supper in Brussels on May 25. A spokesman said the event raised more than $1,700 which will be used for church projects. The feast was served smorgasbord style with all the food donated by church members. Rebekahs host open house At the regular meeting of Morning Star Rebekah Lodge, Noble Grand Leona Connelly presided. After the opening of Lodge, the charter was draped in loving memory of the late Aletha Rann, as well as in memory of members of the Rebekah Assembly of Ontario who had passed away during the last year. Thank-you notes were received, as well as correspondence from the assembly. Lillian King and Marie Tyerman were in hospital. Brussels People Compiled by Marilyn Higgins Call887-6754 Brussels United Church held its Flower Sunday Service on May 28. Lilacs of many colours, crab­ apple blossoms and other flower­ ing shrubs, tulips, columbine, canola, wild daisies and buttercups as well as a small pool complete with a duck and frog saw the sanctuary transformed into a lovely for al scene. This service is planned and organized by the church school staff while church school members take part and lead the congregation on the theme of Gifts for Sharing. The primary and senior schools sang several selections. A picnic lunch followed on the church lawn, and many took advantage of the lovely day and stayed to enjoy the occasion. Glenna Stephens has arrived home to Brussels from her winter home with her family, Dr. Regis and Isabel Pelloux, in Boston. The Brussels wolf cubs won the friendship award at the Annual Saugeen West District camp. Six packs from Saugeen West attend- Members were invited to visit Wingham Lodge June 6 and quite a number plan to attend. It was decided to have a Past Grand’s meeting June 13. Plans were finalized for Open House May 29. It was suggested the lodge celebrate its 55th anniversary by having a pot luck supper in September. The Oddfellow-Rebekah church service will be held in the United Church on June 26. V. G. Lillian Moses set June 29 as the tentative date for the District edthe two day camp, which was held at the Saugeen Bluffs Conser­ vation Area. Fifteen cubs from Brussels attended. Also attending the camps were Mr. and Mrs. Ross Hemmingway, Mrs. Nancy Van- Ass and cub leader Robin Dunbar. Attending the graduation of Wayne Wheeler at Ridgetown College of Agriculture Technology on May 20, 1988 were his parents Isabelle and Bob Wheeler, his brother Brian and Julie Young. Inaugural meeting in Brussels. .After closing Lodge, a social time was held with a musical game conducted by the social committee. The travelling prize was won by Marg McCutcheon; the draw for a plant was won by Marie McTag- gart. On Sunday approximately 100 attended the open house at the Oddfellow-Rebekah Lodge Hall. All were welcome at the door by N.G. Leona Connelly. Visitors were shown the hall and enjoyed a social time with lunch served by the Rebekahs. The oldest living member of Western Star Lodge, Bailey Par­ rot, now living in Clinton was in attendance. Other visitors from out of town were from Listowel, Wingham, Seaforth, Exeter and Hensail. GODERICH 58 West Street Ethel woman injured An Ethel woman was treated and released from Listowel Memorial Hospital on May 16 following a collision between a 1983 Ford car and a Massey Ferguson farm tractor. Anne Marion received minor injuries in the collision, while her 6-year-old daughter, Heather Anne, a passenger in the car at the time, was not injured. Police said that Mrs. Marion was westbound on Perth County Road 6 when she failed to stop ata stop sign, striking the tractor which was northbound on Highway 19. Donald Kuepfer of Newton, operating the tractor, was not injured. The Listowel detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police list the damage to both vehicles as severe.
