Ferguson of Stratford conducted the regular morning service in Knox Church on May 15 while Rev. Steven Webb preached an anniversary service. Miss Judy Engel, a member of the Armed Forces, stationed at Ottawa, spent the past two weeks at the homeof her parents, John and Pat Engel. Mr. and Mrs. Ross Engel and Mrs. Mac Engel attended the funeral on Monday in Blyth of their cousin, Alex Dark, recently of Hu ronview. He was in his 96th year and was born and grew up on the ninth concession of Grey Township on the farm now owned by Allan and Mrs. Baker. Mrs. Jack Conley and Mrs. Doug Hemingway, Brussels, have re­ ceived word of the death on May 7 of their sister-in-law, Mrs. Earl Lowe, at Spalding, Sask. She died following a lengthy illness and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Engel, Kitchener, attended the McLean- Engel wedding and reception on May 14 and spent the night with Mrs. Mac Engel. A number of friends and rela­ tives of Wendy Smith gathered at the Cranbrook Community Centre on Tuesday evening, May 14 to wish her well in her marriage to take place Friday, May 27. Kathy Workman and Yvonne Knight conducted contests and had read­ ings. Ann Bragg, Marlene and Rhonda Fischer and Karen Uhler were convenors of the delicious lunch. Brussels Rebekahs elect officers Fourteen Past Noble Grands, of the Morning Star Rebekah Lodge met on Monday evening, May 16 in the lodge hall. Sister Mary Davidson, Presi­ dent assisted by Sec.-Treas. Sister Margaret McCutcheon conducted the business of the meeting. An election for the new officers was held. Sister Alice McArter accept­ ed the nomination for President and Sister Jean Bridge agreed to act as Sec. -Treas. for the new term. Ethel Women’s Institute hosted the annual meeting of the Huron County Historial Society in Ethel Tuesday night, May 17. Marilyn Clark, author of the history of Grey township ‘ ‘Grey Township and its People” was guest speaker. She spoke on the work that went into compiling the ORIENTATION by Laurie Wharton and Debbie Logue On Monday, May 16, five students from B.P.S. attended the Orientation Night held at F.E. Madill. The program enables students who will be entering high school in September to familiarize themselves with the school. The program consisted of re­ marks from the Principal, Student Council Members and staff mem­ bers. Demonstrations of cheer­ leading, basketball and pole vault­ ing were also presented. The students were divided into 13 groups and were given a guided tour by senior students. The students found it to be a very informative evening. PRE-KINDERG ARTEN VISIT OURSCHOOL by John Ramirez and Stephanie Lentz Each Tuesday for the last few weeks, pre-kindergartens have been visiting our school’s library to prepare for next year. The librar­ ian, Mrs. Webster, teaches them how to take out books. Crafts are made and stories are read to the children. Senior students assist Mrs. Webster on Tuesdays from 2:30 - 3:30. These sessions are in progress until May 31 and all children beginning school next year are invited to attend. READERTHEATRE by Danielle McDougall and Chrystal Cucksey On Wednesday, May 18, a group of grade 3 students Mark Wilson, book and gave the history of the various villages in the township. She also demonstrated how to remove old photographs from their cardboard backings. Various reports were read as part of the Society’s annual meeting. Dave McClure of Credi- ton reported on Historical Society projects such as the historical Grade 8's visit high school Kim Lee, Toni Richmond, Sharon Baechler, Jeff Ferguson and Ron­ nie Abell-Rinn presented a Reader Theatre play called, ‘‘The Little Red Hen,” to Kindergarten, Grades 1,2,3, and several staff members. They were led by Mrs. J. Collins, our Area Resource Teacher. The group practised for several weeks and made their own puppets and invitations. After each presentation, each student received a pretzel. The actors said that the best part was eating the left-over pretzels. Due to sorting, the length of time expectancy of the burying trench has been greatly extended. We ask that all Blyth-Hullett Residents sort their garbage into the following categories: 1. Non Burnable Items-such as glass, tin cans, household vegetable waste, plastics, etc. 2. Burnable items-such as cardboard, paper, wood, leaves [to be identified with red sticker] 3. Metal - no fence wire accepted. 4. Wood or Wood products. All gabage must be bagged or contained. No chemical or hazardous waste - No pesticide or herbicide containers will be accepted.
