THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, MAY 18, 1988. “ Who’ll sample our tasty wares?” was the question from the ladies at the well-stocked bake table at the Brussels Morning Star Rebekah Lodge No. 315’s annual Variety Fair held at the Brussels Library on Saturday. The goodies didn’t last long once the Fair opened, as large crowds surged in to attend the annual fundraiser. Majestic W/ plans quilt entry The May meeting of the Majestic Women’s Institute was held in the library on Wednesday with 19 present. Mrs. Edna McLellan presided over the meeting beginn­ ing with the Ode, the Mary Stewart Collect and a poem, ‘‘Are You an active member.” An invitation to the 85th anniver­ sary of the Fordwich W.I.oii June 7 in the Fordwich Hall was read. On Tuesday, May 17, there will be a Huron County Historical Society meeting in the Ethel Community Centre at 8 p.m. Mrs. Marilyn (Engel) Clark will be the speaker. Mrs. Doris McCall thanked the members for their support of the casserole supper. Mrs. Kathy Bridge, Mrs. Peggy Cudmore, Mrs. Isabel Adams and Mrs. Evelyn Mair make up the commit­ tee to get the quilt underway for the Agriculture and Food Centennial Quilt contest. Mrs. Dorothy Steffler and Mrs. Alice Martin, the Resolutions convenors, had charge of the program. Mrs. Steffler discussed the Improvements in Homemak­ ing since 1890 which were promot­ ed by the Women’s Institute. Mrs. McArter had the motto ‘‘How Can I as an individual make the Institute a better organiza­ tion.” Mrs. McArter gave a slip of paper to each person to answer this question. All of the answers were then read and discussed.
