Blyth fireman Bill Burkholder [centre] rushes to get hoses ready as
firemen work to prevent greater damage to the Blyth Inn Hotel. Fire
started during a roofing project over the lounge area then got into the
wooden wall of the main building. Firemen quickly extinguished the
fire.

Blyth United Church congrega
tion enjoyed a beautiful treat of
musicSunday morning. It was a
musical creation from Songs of
Gospel titled “What’s in it for
me”, led by Margaret Kai and the
choir. The choir numbers were
interspersed with scripture read
ings by Rev. Lorenzo Ramirez and
Emily Philips.
The choir entered singing “Seek
Ye first the Kingdom of God”.
They then sang, “Morning has
Broken”. Marjorie McNall, Diane
Wasson and Bev Snell sang “Out
of the deep unordered waters”.
Cheryl Cronin sang, “I am the
Light of the World.”
Lorna Fraser was the leader for
the Junior congregation. After
talking with them about happiness
Rev. Ramirez led them in singing,
“Smile, Smile, everybody Smile.”
The men of the choir sang “As
Longs the Hart’ ’, then the combin
ed choir sang, “Be still My Soul”
followed by “Open My eyes that I
may see” with Cheryl Cronin as
ed by the congregation joining in
the singing of “Amazing Grace”.
The choir then sang, “Walls that

Lillian Patterson and Shirley Glou-
sher had the low scores. Evelyn
Smith had the special prize. There
were eight tables of card players
present.
There’ll be a chance to get rid of
those bottles that have been
collecting in the basement on
Saturday when the Blyth Cubs hold
a bottle drive.
Christmas and Country of Blyth
was honoured at the recent Home
and Garden Show in Goderich for
havingone of the best designed
booths in the show.
