Blyth District Fire Chief Irvin Bowes, right, and Lieutenant Paul Josling display the new Stokes basket stretcher and VCR which the department purchased recently for close to $1,000, using funds the firemen raised at last September’s Pancake Breakfast, traditionally held as part of the Blyth Threshermen’s Reunion. Chief Bowes says that the basket stretcher will be used for lifting an Injured patient out of a difficult situation, while the VCR will be used to show the department’s firefighting training tapes to its men.
