Wingham Hospital Auxiliary names officers The Ontario Provincial Police’s Ride program got a high profile in Biyth Saturday when three cruisers took up position on main street and stopped all cars going along Hwy. 4. The program, which was first implemented only during the Christmas holiday period to cut down on drinking and driving, has now been extended year long. Home Care changing Huronview The success of programs such as home day care is drastically changing the role of senior citizens homes such as Huronview, Huron county council was told at its monthly meeting April 7. Lossy Fuller, Exeter deputy­ reeve and chairman of the Huron­ view management committee said the need for residential beds at Huronview is being drastically reduced. The number of applica­ tions for admission to the home and the number of admissions have both gone down significantly. In discussion with the director of the Home Care Program Director Betty Cardno, Reeve Fuller said, 110 clients of the program were reviewed, all of whom would qualify for admission to Huronview and 57 of whom would qualify for extended care yet all are still living happily in their own homes. Reeve Fuller said she was really excited about the success of the home care program. The Auxiliary to the Wingham and District Hospital held the annual meeting at the Registered Nursing Assistant’s Training School April 18. President Mrs. Leonard Phillips presided and reviewed the activities of the closing year. Purchases were made of a whirlpool tub and an Ambulift which were donated to the Wing­ ham and District Hospital. The Spring and Fall rummage sales realized $4,439.40. Other means of revenue were an auxiliary tea held at Lucknow, Tuck Shop sales, Hospital Bridge and craft group projects. Speakers during the 1987-88 year were Mrs. Mel Kirlin, chairperson of region 2 hospital auxiliaries; Norman R. Hayes, executive director of the Wingham and District Hospital; Brenda Edgar, Kineosiologist, and Mari­ lyn Irwin, R.N.A. Director. Committee reports disclosed a busy and rewarding year involving many willing workers and the Auxiliary extends appreciation to all for the many services. The victim left his exhibit temporar­ ily unattended and when he returned he found the camera missing. The camera and bat­ tery are valued at $1,918.
