THE MERCEY BROTHERS One of Canada’s most popular country music groups appears at the Blyth Festival for the first time. The group has played in concert across Europe and at the Grand Ole Opry. Saturday, October 15, 8 p.m. Single tickets, $12. Youth $9. WINGFIELD’S PROGRESS Rod Beattie returns with the latest stories from Walt The Citizen, Help Directory, Page 15. Wingfield, thecity executive who gave up urban ways for a “simple existence” on the farm. This time Walt takes on urban developers who threaten the town of Larkspur. “LetterfromWingfieldFarm”soldoutwhenitwas originally performed at Blyth two years ago. Saturday, Nov. 12, 8 p.m. Individual tickets, $12. Youth $9. THE GREAT LAKES QUINTET This brass quintet has a flair for presentation and extraordinary musicianship and has become one of Canada’s most sought-after chamber music ensembles. It has performed from New York’s Lincoln Centre to Expo ‘86. Their work varies from the lighter compositions of Charles Ivesand Leonard Bernstein to Bach and Gabrieli. Sunday, April 16, 1989 at 2 p.m. Individual tickets, $12. Youth $9. BETH ANNE COLE SINGS Beth Anne is back! The popular stage and television star has been at Blyth many times before from Desert Song to her own one-woman concert to “Girls in the Gang” and “Miss Balmoral of the Bayview” in the 1987 Festival season. This time she brings a fresh and offbeat collection of famous (and not-so-famous) songs from Broadway, vaudeville and the French stage, songs first performed by such stars as Fanny Brice. Beth Anne’s own amusing commentary gives the evening a warm, personal flavour. Saturday, May 6, 1989. 8 p.m. Individual tickets, $12. Youth $9.
