The Optimists’ motto is “Friend of Youth” and they are
committed to encouraging the development of youth as
well as supporting the elderly and the blind. Brussels
Optimists have been especially active in improvements at
the ball park.

An organization for servicemen and their families, the
Legion is also active in other community activities from
supporting sports to sponsoring public speaking and

Legion halls going, the Ladies Auxiliary also gets
involved in other community fundraising programs. The
Blyth Branch, for instance, recently spearheaded a drive
to raise money for a lift for'the handicapped at the Blyth
and District Community Centre.
