Rock and Roll is directed by Larry Lillo, and stars Doug Bennett (of Doug and The Slugs fame), Maurice Godin, Randy Kempf, David Kirby, Louise Pitre, and Alec Willows. Setandcostumes are designed by Pam Johnson, with lighting by Marsha Sibthorpe. DougBalfour serves as Musical Director, Valerie Moore as choreo grapher, and Peter Brennan as off-stage guitarist. “The Monarchs’’ are together again! Once the home-town heroes of Mushaboom, Nova Scotia in the 1960’s, this rock and roll band gathers 15 years later to play a reunion concert. Nostalgia gives way to terror as they face the prospect of total humiliation - why threaten the perfection of memory with the awful reality of the present? Rock and Roll is a musical history of the band, from their formation, to unexpected success, and eventual dissolution, told with laughter, flashbacks, and lots of good old rock and roll. It traces the growth of a generation from hard-rockin’ youth to responsi bility-laden adulthood, and ex plores the fears and joys of both. Screamin’ John, the ghost of rock and roll (Nova Scotia-style!), adds a touch of rock and roll wisdom to a rollickinglookatapartofall our lives. Play wright John Gray drew from personal experience when he wrote Rock and Roll. As a teenager in Truro, Nova Scotia, he founded his own band, The Lincolns, which toured the province for seven years, and he returned to Truro nearly 15 years later to play a reunion concert with them. Gray moved to Vancouver in the late 1960’s, where he co-founded Tamahnous Theatre, and worked with them for several years. ico^.^agei i i • ROB LOWE • MEG TILLY •KIM CATTRALL_________ , aa.naataeFeeei tbs PIZZA PIZZA PIZZA THURS., FRI.,SAT. 5P.M.-12 A.M.
