Phone 887-9487 Belgrave UCW unit discusses Ethiopian trip The Afternoon Unit of the U.C. W. met at the home of Mrs. James Hunter on Thursday, April 12. Visits to sick and shut-ins were recorded and minutes of the last meeting read. The hymn, “For the beauty of the earth” was sung. Mrs. Sarah Anderson led in prayer and the reading of ‘‘Transplanted Flow­ ers ’ ’ from finger tips and devotions and the poem ‘‘Live”. Mrs. Janisa Coultes introduced the Bible Study of the Gospel of Matthew and compared it to the Gospels of Mark and Luke. The hymn ‘ ‘ I would be true for there are those who trust me’ ’ was read in unison. Mrs. Hunter’s Mission Study was based on the reports of the London Free Press and Crossroads 15 tables at euchre on the reasons for the delegation that went to Ethiopia earlier this month which brought some discus­ sion following it. The meeting closed with prayer by Mrs. Anderson followed by lunch and a social time. Easter theme of meeting Easter was the theme of the April meeting of the evening unit of the United Church Women when it met at the home of Mrs. Mabel Wheeler Tuesday, April 6. A total of 19 members were present. Articles for the church bale are to be left at the home of Mrs. Ross Anderson by the end of April. The May meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Jack Taylor Tuesday, May 2 and the roll call is to be answered with a Mother’s Day verse. Scripture from John 15 was read by Mrs. Garner Nicholson. Mrs. Robena McBurney read a medita­ tion entitled‘‘Saying notoJesus”. Mrs. Joe Dunbar led in prayer. Mrs. Mac Scottgave the topic ‘‘Only a Journey” and ‘‘My Lady at the Window”. The roll call was answered with a Bible verse with the word seed. Twenty-one sick and shut-in visits were recorded. Mrs. McBurney gave the secre­ tary’s report and Mrs. Cloakey the financial report. Mrs. Nicholson will be in charge of the May meeting. Mrs. Cloakey closed with prayer and lunch was served by the hostess. People Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Bosman, Mr. and Mrs. George Michie and Mr. and Mrs. Ross Anderson enjoyed a five-day bus trip to Washington, D.C. over last week­ end. While there they saw the Cherry Blossom Parade, The Capital Building and various other mem­ orial buildings and Arlington Cemetery.
