Phone 887-6645 Hall board hosts euchre The Hall Board had 14 tables at their euchre on April 15. Winners were: high, Lois Hart, Ken Mac­ Donald; low, Isabel Craig, Donald Clark: lone hands, Lourdes Gen- osa, Lloyd Smith; birthday, Harold Bragg; lucky table, Lloyd Smith, Isabel Craig, Roberta Simpson, Bill Eckmier; tallies, Ken Craw­ ford, Margaret MacDonald, Annie Wight, Marjorie Metcalfe, Joe Cooper. The maple syrup for prizes was donated by Jack Knight. The euchre on Friday, April 22 will be for the Foresters when the beef dents, Bert and Mrs. van Donkers- goed, West Montrose, on the birthoftheirfirstgrandchild on April 8 in London. A daughter, Christine Michelle, was born to Mr. and Mrs. Dan Boljet, the former Bernice van Donkersgoed. Mr. and Mrs. Pete van Boekel and girls, Innerkip, visited on SundaywithJohnandMrs. Vanass and family. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Clark, Stratford, and Mrs. Jean Dunn, Listowel, visited Mrs. Mac Engel on Sunday afternoon. TheW.M.S.ofKnox Presbyter­ ian Church met on April 13 at the home of Mrs. Joe Smith with an attendance of 11. The leader, Mrs. Stewart Steiss, opened the meet­ ing with readings on “Easter and Spring’’. The hymns “Morning is Foresters meet The Foresters had their April meeting in the Community Centre with 14 members present. Presi­ dent Bro. Bob Bremner assisted by the chaplain. Sister Mary Ellen Jacklin and vice-pres. Bro. Harry Jacklinconducted the meeting. Bro. Jack Conley was elected delegate to the High Court meeting July 9-13 in Saskatoon. Roll call was answered by each member contributing an Easter reading or poem. An invitation was received to a meeting on May 4 in Atwood when the speaker will be Helen Barker. Our Presbyterial visitor is Mrs. Clayton Edwards, Goderich. The meeting closed with the Lord’s Prayer in unison. Mrs. Marjorie Knight and Mrs. Harvey Smith provided lunch. NOTICE ROAD CLOSING Cranbrook Sideroad south of Cranbrook will be closed for culvert construction on April 25 to June 6. Grey Township Council. Ethel 1/1/7 to host Historical Society draw will take place. There is a talent show at Grey Central School on Wednesday evening, April 20 at 7:30 p.m. Congratulations to former resi- ^0 ---3 o ’X 0 I J V J ____r ®j The annual meeting of the Ethel W.I. was held Tuesday evening at the Ethel Hall. Delegates to the District Annual on May 10 at Moncrieff were appointed. A letter from Home Economist Jane Muegge gave information on a peach recipe contestbeing held by OMAF to celebrate their centennial year. Space is also available for anyone wishing to attend the Leadership ‘88 Conference in Kingston May 13 to 15. A discussion was held concern­ ing the fire insurance coverage by the Institute at the hall. Final plans were made for the upcoming Huron County Historical annual meeting being held May 17 at 8 p.m. in the Ethel Community Centre. Committees were formed to take care of various duties. Mrs. Jacklin presented her information about the upcoming Blyth Festival production and it was decided which play would be attended. There will be extra tickets so if anyone outside the Institute wishes to attend with the members they may do so. Mrs. Grube installed the officers for 1988-89 as follows: President, Mrs. John Smith) first vice-presi- dnt, Miss Jean Fraser; secretary- treasurer, Mrs. James McMahon; branch director, Mrs. Ralph Kef­ fer; PRO, Mrs. Alvin McLellan; flower convenor, Mrs. James Dobson; and program co-ordina­ tor, Mrs. Wayne Grube. A plant auction was held and the proceeds were put into the Pennies for Friendship fund. The main meeting will again be held in the hall with a flower arrangement demonstration. Any­ one wishing to attend may do so. President Joan Smith closed the meeting and lunch was served. 4-H CLUB Trying to find a name for the Ethel 4H outdoors club is proving to be a difficult task. An effort was made to find a suitable name at the meeting held at Beth Earl’s place Wednesday evening. Jane Thomp­ son from the Maitland Valley Conservation Authority visited the group and spoke on animals that are in danger of becoming extinct.
