Orchestra performs at Blyth Back by popular demand, the Blyth Festival presents the Cana­ dian Chamber Ensemble on Sun­ day, April 24, 2 p.m. at the Blyth Memorial Hall. This group of artists originally played the hall in May of 1986 to a very appreciative audience of music lovers. The ensemble is composed of musicians from the world renowned Kitchener-Water­ loo Symphony and is under the direction of symphony conductor, Raffi Armenian. The Canadian Chamber Ensem­ ble has 16 members and was established in 1974. It includes principal artists from the Kitchen­ er-Waterloo Symphony. The varie­ ty of instruments the ensemble employs creates a varied and entertaining concernt repertoire that few performing groups dupli­ cate. The programme for the Blyth engagement will include works by Mozart, Haydn and Strauss. gether for many years and together they produce fresh, spirited and technically outstanding music. Their small orchestra style is used to great advantage to provide a first-rate accessible program everyone will enjoy. The Canadian Chamber Ensem­ ble has consistently won critical and public acclaim through its extensive tours, recording and broadcasts. In 1984 the ensemble had successful tours to Spain, Central and South America. In 1986, it made a triumphant return to Spain plus a memorable debut in Germany. The Canadian Chamber Ensemble has also received num- erous awards and nominations for its recordings, and broadcasts on radio and television.
