Easter euchre held in Ethel Rosemarie Bishop of RR1, Ethel, was the surprised winner ot a red tie, autographed by Ontario Premier David Peterson, when the door prizes . were drawn at the banquet and annual meeting of the Huron Provincial Liberal Riding Association in Blyth last Wednesday. Association president Joe Hogan of Exeter presented the tie to Mrs. Bishop. Ontario Attorney-general Ian Scott was the guest speaker at the meeting. A special Easter euchre was held Easter Monday in the Ethel Community Centre hosted by the Ethel W.I. There were 17 tables in play with lots of winners as follows: high lady, Lois Hart; high man, John Subject; low lady and man, Anne Mac Murchy and Bob Bremner; score of 68, Dorothy Hamilton and Stan Hewitt; most lone hands, Bill Beirnes and Isobel Bremner; birthday nearest April 1, Lloyd Smith; lucky table #1 - Roger Evans, Betty Hood, Marg Smith and Hazel MacKenzie; table #3 - Myrle Bowes, Charles Harrison, Adrian Verstoep, and Bette Krotz; #5 - Lois Hart, Marguerite Beirnes, Doris Jacklin and Lloyd Smith; People Michelle McMahon of Thunder Bay visited at home with her family a few days before returning to write exams. table #9 - Jack Cox, Jim Smith, Brenda Perrie and Doreen Suter; #13 - Dorothy Dilworth, Helen Alexander, Bill McClelland, Har­ vey Adams; #16 - Dorothy Hamil­ ton, Dorothy Martin, Frank Mac- Kenzie, Alan Kennedy; score 0 - Marg Smith, Jean Fraser, Jim Smith and Agnes Harrow; score 77 - Dorothy Dilworth; 83 - Charlie Harrison; 92 - Becky Ruppel. Winners of the fruit basket and Easter lily were Betty Hood and Agnes Harrow. While there the members made a campfire and then paired uptodo the “Blind Walk” through the bush. The silent symphony was also carried out, where everyone stood in silence for a few minutes with eyes closed and listened to all the different sounds in the bush. The group tried to find a name for this club but weren’t too successful. The next meeting will be held April 13 at Beth Earl’s home. Grey Twp. closes road for bridge construction Grey Township Council held its regular meeting on April 5 and passed By-Law 13 - 1988 to temporarily close sideroad 15-16, concession 12-13 (sideroad south of Cranbrook) from May 2 to June 13 to allow for the construction of the 14th Concession culvert. Council also passed a by-law which appointed the Clerk as the Lottery Licensing Officer for the Township. The tenders for the Deitner Municipal Drain were opened with the tender of Hanna and Hamilton Construction amounting to $11,810 being the lowest of six tenders received. Construction of the drainage works is expected to start at the end of May. In other business Council ap­ proved general accounts totalling $ 18,733.87, road accounts totalling $14,582.89 and drain accounts totalling $108.00.
