Don Armstrong, president of the Brussels Optimists Club, was at Brussels Public School on April 5 to present medals to the senior students In the school Science Fair who will advance to county-wide competition in Clinton with their projects on April 16. Brussels People Compiled by Marilyn Higgins Call887-6754 The Sacrament of Baptism was held at the Presbyterian Church in Brussels on April 10. Emily Catherine, daughter of Jeff and Cathy'Cardiff; Candice Christine, daughter of Eric and Jane Ross , and Brent James, son of Gerry and Brenda Wheeler were baptized. Rev. Ken Knight officiated. A barbecue was held at the home of Gerry and Brenda Wheeler’s after the ceremony. Attending were Rev. Ken and Aileen Knight, Jim and Donna Knight, Carla Knight, Glen and Karen Trivitt, Stan and Helen Alexander, Lloyd and Helen Wheeler, Doug, Cathie, Trevor and Erica Wheeler. An afternoon of kite flying in the nice weather was enjoyed by the children. Mrs. Janet McCutcheon and Mrs. Marie Burgess are both patients in Wingham and District Hospital. We wish you a speedy recovery and hope you are able to return to your homes soon. Sympathy is extended to Mr. Vern Hupfer and family and to Mr. Glenn Smith and family on their recent loss of their loved ones. . Mr. and Mrs. Sam Sweeney have returned to their home after enjoying the winter months in Arizona. The Brussels Crusaders played Friday night against Lions Head to a standing room only crowd. The Crusaders played a good game but came off the ice with a 5 - 3 loss. On Sunday they travelled to Lions Head to come home with a victory of6-4. Playersandfansreportit was a really rough game. The series is now tied 1-1. Next home game will be held in Wingham on Saturday, April 16. Come out to Wingham and support these young men. They appreciate their loyal fans and wouldn’t it be nice to have a Grand Championship team come home. It would have been nice to do it on home ice, but thank you Wingham for keeping your ice in. Mr. and Mrs. Bill McNair of London visited with Mrs. Jean Bridge and Mr. and Mrs. Alvie Higgins and attended the funeral of the late William Pierre. The winners of the prizes at the Oddfellow Rebekah euchre Mon­ day, April 4 were Barbara McCut­ cheon, Annie Thynne, Margaret McCutcheon, Bob Fraser and Martha Logan. 1 he next euchre is April 18. Rev. Charles Carpentier of Brussels United Church baptized Amanda and Cynthia, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. William Stephenson during the Sunday morning ser­ vice. John Cousins was also installed as chairman of the Committee of Stewards, and Blair Dickson, Gertrude Kellington and Frank Workman as members of the Committee. The flowers on the communion table were placed in memory of Ruth Kupfer by mem­ bers of the family. Ruth wasa much loved and respected member of the congregation. . Cann attended the Family Brown - George Jones show in Owen Sound on Thursday evening. Sunday visitors with Lawrence and Mildred Jacklin were her brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Ada Thornton of Kitchener. The latter three then went to Woodstock and visited with their aunt, Mrs. Ethel Thornton, who is a patient in Woodingford Lodge.
