These positive aspects of hockey
that develop over the season are
felt by everyone as the season
draws to a close.
All the coaches in Minor Hockey,
deserve credit for all the time and
devotion they have given over the
past months; and to our coaches,
Chris Cowan, John Blok and Bruce
Schmidt, a very sincere “Thank-
You” is ex tended from the boys
and their parents for the excellent
coaching of the past season.
This was a penalty-filled game with
Blyth receiving 42 minutes and
Muncey receiving 60 minutes in
penalties.
On Wednesday night both teams
met again. The Blyth boys were
encouraged by a large contingent
of fans who travelled with the team
to watch the game.
The local boys came out to
avenge their earlier loss. Muncey
scored firstbut Blyth came back
quickly and Larry Hunking scored
assisted by Dan McDougall. A
small let-down by Blyth allowed
scored an insurance goal with only
27 seconds left. Blyth pulled their
goalie for one more offensive rush
but Clinton scored an empty net
goal to salt away the game 6-3.
A long and sometimes hectic
season ended with the final buzzer
as the Atoms proved worthy
opponents as they ended up as
Group runners up.
It was a very enjoyable and
successful season at the Blyth
arena as all of the teams proved
quite competitive this year.
