Allen Cardiff re-elected to head Morris F of A Allen Cardiff of RR 5, Brussels, has been re-elected president of the Morris Township Federation of Agriculture, while Bruce Schmidt of RR 2, Blyth and Keith Van Camp of RR 4, Brussels were re-elected as first vice-president and secre- tary-treasurer respectively at the group’s annual meeting in Bel­ grave March 29. In the absence of other nominations, all the officers were re-elected by acclamation for the 1988-89 term. Morris Twp. line directors were also acclaimed, as follows: Glen Warwick, Bluevale (Highway 86); Harry Verbeek, Bluevale (second Line); Jim Barnes, RR 5, Brussels (third); John McIntosh, RR 5, Brussels (fourth); Don Procter, RR 4, Brussels, (fifth); Bert Sanders, RR 4, Brussels (sixth); Bruce Schmidt (seventh); John Nesbit, RR 2, Blyth (eighth); and John Hoonaard, RR 3, Walton (ninth). Brussels Stockyards Beef prices rise sharply The market at Brussels Stock- yards sold sharply higher at prices $2.00 to $3.00 above last week’s market. Cows and pigs sold steady as did sheep and lambs. There were 691 cattle, 304 pigs and 72 sheep and lambs on offer. Choice steers brought $92 to $97 with sales to $106; good steers brought $89 tc $92. A steer consigned by George Adams of RR 2, Wroxeter, weigh­ ing 1290 lbs., sold for $106, and was purchased by Northern Beef Corporation of RR 2, Proton Station, while his total offering of 49steers, averaging 1320 lbs., sold for an overall price of $93.19. A steer consigned by Maple Emblem Farms of RR 1, Dungann­ on, weighing 1240 lbs., sold for $104 with their total lot of 27 steers, averaging 1231 lbs., selling for an average price of $95.97. Twenty- four steers consigned by J & M Ranch of Brussels, averaging 1251 lbs., sold for an overall price of $95.83, with sales to $100. Three steers consigned by Bruce Campbell of RR 1, Belgrave, averaging 1297 lbs., sold for $95.42, with sales to $99.75. A steer consigned by Michiels Farms Ltd., of RR 1, Sebringville, weigh­ ing 1243 lbs., sold for $99.25 with their total offering of 15 steers, averaging 1243 lbs., selling for an average price of $95.98. Fifty-four steers consigned by Earl Fitch of RR 1, Wroxeter, averaging 1276 lbs., sold for an overall price of $94.48, with sales to $95.60. A red white-faced steer con­ signed by George Underwood Farms of RR 1, Wingham, weigh­ ing 1340 lbs., sold for $97.75, with their total offering of 26 steers averaging 1354 lbs., selling for an average price of $92.52. Seventeen steers consigned by Doug Mason Farms Ltd., of RR 1, Listowel, averaging 1156 lbs., sold for $93.11 with sales to $94.85. Choice exotic heifers sold from $92 to $96 with sales to $105; good heifers brought $89 to $92. A heifer consigned by Wm. Bennet & Sons Ltd., of RR 1, Gorrie, weighing 10201bs., soldfor $105, and was purchased by Norwich Packers of Norwich, while their total offering of 30 heifers averaged 1175 lbs., and sold for an overall price of $95.58. A heifer consignedby Murray Mulvey of RR 1, Clifford, weighing 1120 lbs., sold for $101 with his total lot of five heifers, averaging 1090 lbs., sell­ ing for an average price of $97.89.
