KINDERGARTEN VISITS
POST OFFICE
by Stacey Boyd
On March 22 and 23 the
Kindergarten students went to
Brussels. They went to the post
office, the bakery, the butcher
shop. This trip was to teach the
Kindergarten’s about the people in
our community.
At the post office they mailed
letters to other students in the
class. At the butcher shop they
went to the cooler and saw the
different meats which were hang
ing from the racks. They saw a
cow s heart, Mr. Thomas slicing
the meat and making sausage.
At the bakery they watched Mr.
and Mrs. Todd making doughnuts
and they also learned to slice
bread.
They took a walking trip round
the town. They stopped to see the
town and the pharmacist.
After the trip we interviewed
Mandy Stratton. She liked the
treats and the pencil she received.
She said she would like another trip
only this time to Toronto.
ELECTRICITY
by K. McGuigan and S. Stewart
The grade five class is studying
electricity. This is an example of
one of their experiments.
EQUIPMENT:
9 volt battery
a piece of copper wire 44 cm. long
light bulb (Xmas tree bulb)
15 volt base
First, you wrap the wire around
the base of the bulb.
After that touch the post on the
nine-volt battery. This produced
light in the bulb. If we had had a
stronger battery we would have
had a brighter light.
GYMNASTICS
by R. Boyd and L. Hemming way
In Phys. Ed., the grade six class
is doing gymnastics. They are
enjoying gymnastics very much.
They are doing front rolls, back
rolls, tripods, and headstands.
They are using the spring board,
box horse, and trampet. The
gymnastics unit will continue for
three weeks at Grey.
