Co-operative development project proposed A team of students from the University of Waterloo’s Planning School proposed last week that central Huron municipalities co­ operate in a joint development to try to attract new jobs to the area. The nine students who made up the team presented their plan Wednesday night in Clinton to political leaders from Blyth, Clin­ ton, Seaforth and the townships of Hullett, McKillop, Stanley and Tuckersmith. The third year stu­ dents are part of a workshop program at the university conduct­ ed by Huron County Planning Director Dr. Gary Davidson. Four groups broke Huron county into north, south, lakeshore and central economic areas and each of the groupswasassignedtocome up with a plan to help their region develop. The students unveiled the Cen­ tral Huron Community Develop­ ment Committee (CHCDA) which would bring together a committee of elected and appointed represen­ tatives from the seven municipali­ ties. The aim of the development area would be to co-ordinate activities of the municipalities and promote long-term planning and promote civic pride in the area. The seven communities are too small to promote themselves in­ dividually, the study group said. They happily celebrated two family birthdays: one over dinner at Robindales Fine Dining, Goderich and the other at the Madill home, Blyth. Olive Neal and Jean Scott had the high scores when 11 tables of euchre players gathered for the weekly euchre party at Blyth Memorial Hall March 28. Esther Moffatt and Ray Krauter had the low scores. Nora Kelly and Joe Holmes had the most lone hands. Vera Hesselwood and Mary Shobbrook won the special prizes. Atthe Lost Heir card party on Wednesday night, six tables were in play. Feme Howatt and Shane Snell had the high scores. Ora Bruce and Margaret Nesbitt had the low scores. Dorothy Daer won the special prizes. Players are reminded this week the games will be at 8 p.m. D.S.T. Andy and Aida Lipp and daugh­ ter Stephanie and Julia and Ric Tumbucon of Mississauga were weekend visitors with Rev. Loren­ zo Ramirez and family. Mrs. Tumbucon is Norma Ramirez’ sister. Linda and Philip Powers visited with Gordon and Catherine Cald­ well. Rev. Tom Smith and Mrs. Smith of Oshawa were weekend visitors with their daughter Emily Philips and her family. The Teen club of the Blyth United Church met at the Medd’s with an attendance of 14. The devotions were led by Mike Pawitch. Mary and Lloyd Walden had the pleasure of entertaining family members to dinner on Easter Sunday. There were 22 present at the festive meal.
