Palm Sunday celebrated at Btyth THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, MARCH 30, 1988. PAGE 23. Entertainment New GM at Huron Country Playhouse Palm Sunday was observed in Bly th United Church. Four girls from the grade three class brought palm branches up the aisle and placed them on a table at the front of the church. Rev. Ramirez talked with the children about the meaning of Palm Sunday. They sang “Praise Him, Praise Him all Ye Little Children’ ’. Linda Wilson was their leader. They constructed Easter lilies as part of their activity. The choir sang ‘‘The King is Coming.” Rev. Ramirez chose as his sermon title “Our Allegiance to Jesus, our King’ ’. He said that the story of Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem is recorded in all four gospels. It is a symbol of the coming of Him who is to be the King of Hope and Peace, ’ ’ he said. When we say “Jesus is King”, we are stating an allegiance to Him and this means our loyalty, allegiance and com plete obedience,” he said. “In offering our allegiance, we must offer our time, our strength and our minds - our special abilities”, he stated. He pointed out that when the people spread their garments before him on the ride to Jerusalem they were offering something very precious to them. Many of them would only possess one outer garment. “Do we ever offer anything that costly?” he asked. He concluded by saying, “we can give without love - but we cannot love without giving”. Communion was served by Vera Badley, David Webster, Melda McElroy, Evalina Webster, Bon nie Shannon, Harvey McDowell, Lloyd Walden, Bodie Craig and Fred Meier. Ushers were Barbara Musty, Vera Badley, Earl Fyfe and John Blake. Fern and Harvey McDowell were greeters. The congregation was reminded of the Good Friday Service at 11 a.m. and that the Easter service will be on daylight savings time and that it will be Family Sunday. Don’t tell anyone I’m 40 today!
