BY LOIS McARTER
The Brussels Bulls Junior D
team travelled to Wellesley on
Friday night for the third game of
their playoff series against the
Applejacks.
They were four minutes into the
first period when the home team
beat goalie McClement, on a power
play attack. They added their
second goal 1:23 later to take a 2-0
lead.

and Ron Strome to keep them
within one of the home team. The
remainder of the period was
scoreless with Wellesley holding a
3-2 lead, and a 10-9 lead in shots on
goal.
The two teams played the second
20 minutes without either team
managing to score a goal. The Bulls
picked up two penalties while the
Applejacks picked up five. The
Bulls outshot the home team 16-13
in the period but just couldn’t beat
a hot goalie.
After four minutes of the third
period Mike Chapman scored from
Tim Fritz and Kevin McArter to tie
the score. Five minutes later Bill
Kerr scored from Tim Dillow and
RonStrometogivethe Bulls the
lead.
It was 11:34 when Wellesley
scored to tie the game once more

Brussels for a 4:30 game following
the Atom tournament.
They had played just 3:37 of the
first period when the visitors beat
goalie Jeff McGavin to take a 1-0
lead. The Bulls came back after two

Campbell to tie the score. Another

later Bill Kerr scored from de
fenceman Paul Robinson to go
ahead by two. A minute later Brian
Campbell scored once more from
defenceman Paul Robinson to give
the Bulls three quick goals.
The visitors pulled their goalie at
the 6:48 mark but the extra attacker
failed to help as Jeff McGavin came
up with numerous good saves and
the Bulls lengthy shots down the
ice always seemed to miss the open
net. The team hung on to take the
8-5 victory.
The two teams will meet for
game five on Tuesday night in
Wellesley and if necessary will be
back in Brussels on Wednesday
evening (tonight) for game six.
Paul Thompson of Brussels was
doubly happy with the Bulls’
victory as he picked up the 50-50
draw for $114. In the other series
being played between Exeter and
Mitchell, Exeter was holding a 3-0
lead in games until this past
weekend and Mitchell came up
with two big wins on Friday and
Sunday. That series will also
continue possibly on Tuesday
night.

Sunday in Brussels. The Bulls are closing in on a series win after
coming from behind to beat Wellesley 8 - 5 on Sunday.
