Entertainment Choirs to join in rock musical When five area Secondary School Choirs come together at Central Huron S.S. in Clinton on Feb. 26 for their annual all day Music Festival Workshop, the emphasis will be on a Rock Contata - “The Creation” by Bobrourtz and Porter. For several years now, the choirs from Centennial Collegiate Insti­ tute in Guelph, Listowel District Secondary Shcool,* Mitchell Dis­ trict High School. South Huron District High School in Exeter and Central Huron Secondary School in Clinton have participated in this workshop, and this year they will make their first attempt at a contata. The choirs will be accom­ panied by a Rock instrumental group. Instructor and director for the workshop will be Brainard Blydon Taylor - assistant conductor of the Ontario Youth Choir. At 7:30 p.m., as a culmination of the day’s activities, the choirs will present a public concert in Central Huron Auditorium. Admission is $3.00. Each choir will perform their own repertoire, and then all three hundred students will combine their voices and talents to perform thecontata “TheCreation” (under the very capable direction of Mr. Taylor). An evening of beautiful music is promosed for all who will attend. Let’s all show our support for our fine young talented teenagers by coming out on Feb. 26 to Central Huron Auditorium. Berva Watson read several items on “Let the games begin in Canada’ then introduced Heidi McClure who told of their tradi­ tions in the country where her ancestors came from. She was also dressed in the clothes worn in Switzerland. Heidi had a most interesting display of items from her home background along with pictures. Members also enjoyed slides of that beautiful country side. Margery Huether thanked Heidi and presented her with a small gift of money on behalf of the Institute. Madill Secon­ dary School was judged top production at the Central Huron School Drama Festival which wrapped up at Blyth Memorial Hall Saturday night. The Festival had started on Feb. 12 and had been scheduled to finish upFeb. 13buthadtobe delayed because of stormy weather. Satur­ day night also was stormy and for a time it appeared young actors might be stuck in Blyth overnight but all eventually got home. In the adjudication of the seven plays the production of “Pause” from F.E. Madill Secondary School was judged tops. Pat Cull of F.E. Madill was a co-wirfner of the best actor award, along with an actor from Glenview Park Secondary School in Cambridge. Heather Morton of F.E. Madill was chosen best actress. Heather also co-dir- ected the play with Cathy Oriold. The award for the best original script was won by the Listowel District Secondary School produc­ tion of “The Canvas” written by Carol Oriold. The awards for the best set and best direction both went to Glen- view Park Secondary School. Other schools taking part in the competition were Central Huron Secondary School; Georgian Bay Secondary School from Meaford; Seaforth District High School; Norwell District Secondary School Palmerton. A series of workshops for the students had been planned but had to be cancelled because of the bad weather. TURNBERRY ST.
