early playoff lead
In W.O.A.A. Intermediate “A”
quarter final action, the Brussels

series lead with a pair of wins on the
weekend over the Durham 72’s.
The first game of the series was a
seesaw affair. The Crusaders

however Durham’s goalie, Scott
MacMillan, turned aside rush after
rush. With just over three minutes
left in the period Kevin Deitner

sparked Durham and resulted in
end-to-end action. Ken Cousins
restored the Crusaders lead a
minute later as he converted a pass
from Dave Stephenson.

lived as Durham tied the score forty
seconds later. Midway through the

first time when they scored a
short-handed goal. Brussels tied
the score a minute later when
Kevin Deitner notched his second

chance of a Durham comeback with
an empty-net marker with 30
seconds left in the game. Assists
went to Kevin Deitner and Trevor
Pocaluyko. The Crusaders outshot
Durham 18 to 12 during the period.
The line of Cousins, Stephenson
and Deitner deserve special men

the night in the Crusaders 8 to 6
victory.
