Phone 887-6645 Locals return from south Mr. and Mrs. Ken MacDonald enjoyed a holiday trip to the Dominican Republic recently. Mrs. Harold Bragg visited in Panama City, Florida, with her brother and other friends on a recent trip. Mr. and Mrs. Steven Starr and little daughter from Owen Sound visited Mr. and Mrs. Don Cotton on Thursday on their way to Florida. A large crowd of neighbours, friends and relatives gathered in the Cranbrook Community Centre on Feb. 17 for a bridal shower for Heather Perrie. Heather, her mother Brenda, and the groom’s mother, Ann Williamson were seated on decorated chairs and Lois Hart conducted some enter tainment. An address written by Dorothy Dilworth was read by Nancy Vanass. The many gifts were then presented to Heather, after which Ethel she thanked everyone and invited them to the wedding reception on March 5. Lunch was served by Darlene Wilson, Mrs. Gordon Mitchell, Marie and Sherri Tyerman, and Mrs. Ross Mitchell. Friday night as usual turned out quite snowy but people for nine tables of cards braved the weather for the Forester’s euchre. Most lone hands at one table went to Donald Clark, Adrian Versteop, Verna Crawford and Shirley Versteop; at the lucky table were Mel Jacklin, Keith Turnbull, Mildred Gill and Isabel Bremner. Highest score for a couple was won by Verna Crawford and Adrian Versteop; lucky tallies went to Beryl Smith, Jack Conley, Jack Cox, Bob Bremner, Becci Ruppel, Ken MacDonald, June Jacklin, Harold Bragg and John Subject. The Hall Board will hold a euchre on Friday, Feb. 26 at 8:30 p.m. Most people would be frightened by a fire-breathing dragon expiring almost in their midst, but not the students of Grey Central Public School at Ethel, who applauded a live theatre production of “The Paper Bag Princess” on Friday. The play was presented by a touring theatre group from Oshawa, and gave many of the children their first taste of live theatre. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Donald Deitner on the arrival of a new son Francis Donald. Sympathy is extended to Clar ence and Rose Marie Bishop and family on the passing of William Bishop. After the finalists are picked they will compete in the gym. If they should win there, they will proceed to the Brussels Legion, where they will compete for money. INDUSTRIAL ARTS AND FAMILY STUDIES by Cathy Earl and Kent Bray As a half a year rolls on, grades 7 and 8 must change their classes at Wingham. We interviewed two people that were in Industrial Arts and Family Studies to see which course they enjoyed the most. Lisa Schyff, a Gr. 7 student, said, “In Industrial Arts you move around more, and in Family Studies you mostly sit in desks and do paperwork.” Ann Uhler, another Gr. 7student, said, “Industrial Arts you can do any unfinished project at any time.” Both classes are found interesting and educa tional.
