Phone 887-6677 'Love' topic of meeting Walton I Unit held its February meeting Wednesday evening in the church basement. Devotions onthetheme, "LearningLove” was led by Viola Kirkby. The hymn, ‘ ‘ Come, let us sing of a wonderful love” was sung accompanied by pianist, Doreen Hackwell. The scripture from 1st Corinthians, Chapter 15 was read by Melva Fraser. Margery Hueth- er read suitable poems on love. “I Love to tell the Story” was sung. Prayer was led by Melva. Then Margery directed a song on love. The offering was received and dedicated. “More Love to Thee, O Christ” was sung, followed with Viola reading, “Where there is Love”. Cranbrook Compiled by Mrs. Mac Engel. Phone 887-6645 Knox WMS holds meeting Mrs. Harvey Smith was hostess for the February meeting of the Women’s Missionary Society of Knox Presbyterian Church. The President, Mrs. Jack Knight opened the meeting with the poem, "The Night has a Thousand Eyes ’ ’. The leader, Mrs. Leslie Knight read an opening thought, “Nothingcan separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus”. The hymn, “Love divine, all love excelling” was sung. All joined in reading scripture taken from John 3: 1-18 followed by a meditation on “Love”. Following the prayer the topic was given by Mrs. Suart Steven­ son. Members were given some insight into the painful and often bloody progress of Christianity as itwasintroducedtothe Russian people in the past thousand years. Minutes were read and a letter of thanksfrom "Survival Through Friendship” for our $25 donation. Members were asked to donate to the Second Mile Project in Guyana and it was decided that members give individually if they wish. Cranbrook W.M.S. is res­ ponsible for the Itinerary Commit­ tee Book for 1988-89. Fifteen visits and 10 cards were recorded. A guest speaker will be invited for the March meeting to be held at the home of Mrs. Stevenson. The Lord’s Prayer was repeated in unison to close the meeting. Lunch was served by Mrs. Jim Hart and Mrs. Strickler. CAULIFLOWER LARGE COURT WOODBINE The C.F. Woodbine M1OO met on Feb. 9 in the Community Centre with 13 members present. Absent from the executive was Bro. Ross Mitchell and Sister Mary Ellen Jacklin. The committee reported Bro. Brian Morton is in London where he underwent surgery. SisterBeryl thanked the court for the rose bush and card in memory of her mother. Ticketsforthebeef draw will be available at the March meeting which is to be a pot luck supper. Bro. Marjorie Humphries gave a very timelv message on Learning Love, we should reach out to one another making the circle of love go around. Business was led by Marie McGavin. Audrey Hackwell read minutes and thank you cards. Nineteen ladies answered the roll call on the ‘Colours of the Church Year’. Doreen Hackwell gave the treasurer’s report. Membership fees were collected. Dates to remember for coming eventsare: WorldDayof Prayer service at the Mennonite Church in Brussels at 10:15 a.m.; the Thank- offering service at Duff’s Church is planned for April 10 at 7:30 p.m. Margaret Bennett was hostess in her home for the Walton II unit, Wednesday evening February 10 with nine members in attendance. Pearl McCallum and Karen Hoegy led the devotions followed with a discussion. An apology is offered to anyone involved. Church news Marjorie Humphries and daugh­ ter Peggy greeted worshippers Sunday morning at Duff’s United. Organist was Marion Godkin. Receiving offering were Barry Hoegy, Ben Hoegy and Brian Wilbee. Rev. Bonnie Lamble told the children a story on the last Sunday of Ephiphany and different colours of the year. Her sermon was on “New Light”. Next Sunday the Sacrament of Holy Communion will be enacted. Lent starts on Wednesday. The unit beef barbecue date is set for June 11 l/l/Z news Ethnic groups in Canada is the topic for the Walton Women’s Institute this Wednesday at 8:15 p.m. Plans have been made for the noon luncheon the same day. Don’t forget the euchre Thursday at 8:00 p.m. County people attend conference “4-H Marketing and You” was the theme of the 1988 Provincial 4-H Leaders’ Conference held in Mississauga on February 5 and 6. Two Huron County 4-H Leaders, Barry Cleave of Varna and Donna Hayden of Goderich, were among one hundred leaders from across the province who attended the Conference. Delegates focused their attention on how to promote andmarket4-Hin their County. Both Barry and Donna spoke enthusiastically about the Confer­ ence, and look forward to sharing their ideas with other 4-H Leaders in Huron County. from 5 to 7 p.m. Copper captains were chosen then sides were drawn up. The meeting closed with a time of fellowship when refreshments were served by lunch hostesses. The Hall Board euchre schedul­ ed for Friday night had to be cancelled owing the weather cond­ itions . The Foresters are hoping for better weather on Feb. 19 when they will host the euchre at 8:30.
