Christ is the provider of peace, joy and hope BY PASTOR DON V AIR WESTFIELD FELLOWSHIP HOUR Some time ago I heard a report on the C.B.C. radio about young people and drugs. How sad it was to realize that many teenagers are risking a future of physical and mental ruin for the sake of a momentary high, a deceptive pleasure, an escape from reality. Someone asked the question “Why?” and the answer came that these youngsters have nothing to celebrate i.e. there is no real peace and joy in their lives, no hope at the centre of their being. The very young may seek to fill the aching voice inside them Hospital Auxiliary plans April rummage sale The Auxiliary to the Wingham and District Hospital met January 25, Mrs. Leonard Phillips, presi dent, presided. The Blood Donor Clinic will be held March 30 both afternoon and evening at F.E. Madill Secondary School. Used National Geographic and sports magazines for teenage boys and men are needed for the book cart. Contact Mrs. Norman Ander son 357-1105 or Mrs. L.D. Balser 357-3032. The cancer clinic treated 511 patients from April 1, 1987 to through drugs, while others may try alcohol, sex, extramarital affairs, multiple marriages and on andon. Not even human love meets this universal need. Someone has said that there is a God-shaped hole within everyone of us. That empty space was shaped to be filled by none other than the Lord Jesus Christ. Some have tried to fill the emptiness within with some cult, philosophy or religion other than strict New Testament Christianity, but when the crushing blows and sorrows of life descend, their foundations collapse. There is also not the power to release the human heart from its fearful bondage to sin. January 12,1988 with 455 hours of service given by clerical and hostess workers. The Spring rummage sale dates are: Thursday, April 14 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and Friday, April 15 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Auxiliary annual meeting will be April 18, 1988. Miss Marilyn Irwin, head in structress of the Wingham and District Hospital Registered Nurs ing Assistant Training School, was guest speaker. Miss Irwin received changes in nursing procedures and the training school in recent years. In Romans 15:13 the apostle said “Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing that ye may abound in hope through the power of the Holy Ghost.” The apostle Paul is talking about what happens when an individual recognizes that they are a sinner and in doing so, turns their back on sin and self, and turns to Christ receiving Him into their heart, as Saviour and Lord. Christ can give that joy and peace in believing, because only His blood can wash away our sin along with its burden of guilt and shame. Only Christ can give this peace, because along with the forgiveness of sins is given a right standing before God, and new birth from above. In Christ all the walls between God and the indivi dual are broken down and there is intimate fellowship with God as heavenly Father. Christalsois the only one who can give us this peace and joy for through Him we have access to the throne of grace. That means I can come to God any time, anywhere, and pour out my needs, wants, problems and sins. What a treasure you have if you have Christ’s peace and joy which passes all human understanding. Nothing in this old world can even begin to compare and when you die, you can take it all with you. The hymn writer has penned the words “No name butChristcan satisfy, none other name for me. There’s love and life and lasting joy, Lord Jesus found in thee.” 4.Bly th Christian Reformed Church HIGHWAY 4, BLYTH Rev. S.
