Walton area people on H-B Libera! executive Two Walton people were elected to the executive of the Huron-Bruce Liberal Association Wednesday night in Lucknow. Graeme Craig [left] was named vice-president of the group while Margaret Shortreed was named Secretary. Here they chat with Doug Frith, M.P. for Sudbury who was guest speaker at the meeting. Huron East Wl makes future plans The executive of the Huron East District Women’s Institute met at the'home of their president, Mrs. Ted Klaassen, in Fordwich, on Monday, January 11 at 10 a.m. Representatives of 10 branches in the District were present. Further plans for the District Annual, which will be held in Moncrief on May 10 were discuss­ ed. Branch program co-ordinators are asked to forward their reports to Mrs. Jean Wilson, Fordwich, District Program Co-ordinator, following their annual meeting. Mrs. Lorianne Schmidt, RR 1, Brunner, FWIO Board Director, gave a brief report of the Board meeting held in Toronto in Novem­ ber. She also outlined plans for a Leadership Development Confer­ ence to be held at Queen’s University, Kingston, on May 13, 14andl5. The workshops at the conference will stress leadership with the theme on Recycling. Mrs. Jean Wilson will represent the District at this Conference. Reprinting of the new Hand­ books is completed, and branches requiring additional copies of the handbook will obtain them from the Institute office in Guelph. The branches were invited to the 85th anniversary of Ethel Women’s Institute on February 2, at the Ethel Community Centre. Following adjournment of the meeting, a pot luck lunch was enjoyed by the W.I. members. Phone 887-6677 Walton Wl learns how to make resolutions The Walton Women’s Institute members met in the hall Wednes­ day evening, Jan. 20 for their monthly meeting on Resolutions. PresidentHelen Craig called the meeting to order with the Institute Ode, Mary Stewart Collect and O Canada with Marion Godkin as pianist. Annie Reid acted as secretary in the absence of Mar­ garet Shortreed. In the correspondence, an invi­ tation came from Ethel Institute with an invitation to attend their 85th anniversary on February 2 at 1:30 p.m. Several members show­ ed interest in attending. Plans were made for the program to be put on at the Callander Nursing Museum gets employment grant Murray Cardiff, M.P. for Huron- Bruce last week announced fund­ ing approval for the Huron County Pioneer Museum in the amount of $22,100. This funding is for redevelop­ ment of the museum which is presently under construction. Four­ teen members gave varied an­ swers for the roll call on “ A Subject which you would like to see presented in a brief or a resolu­ tion.” Following the Institute Grace, refreshments were served by Viola Kirkby and Berva Watson. that were dismantled for storage; and in building additional shelving space. Section 38 is a program for people who are unemployed and in receipt of unemployment benefits. These people will continue to receive benefits at an enhanced rate of wages. The objective is to allow individuals to maintain their skills while on unemployment benefits.
