West Wawanosh Township
Council met for its 'December
meeting on Tuesday evening,
December 7, in the Public Works
Garage. The meeting commenced
at 8.10 p,m., when Council sat as
Court of Revision on the Smyth
Municipal Drain ,Extension and
Improvement. Councillor Cranston
declined to act due to an expressed
-conflict of interest .and Councillor
Foran was not prespnt for, the
court.
A motion by Councillors Hickey
and Stothers opened the Court of
Revision on the Smyth Municipal
Drain Extension and'Improvement,
and appointed • three members of
Council to act as members of .the
Court. Reeve Lyons, and Couricil-
lors Hickey and Stothers subscrib-
ed to the Oath of a Member of a
Drainage Court of Revision. The
Clerk rad the one complaint
received, and after lengthy discus-
sion by the complainant, engineer
J. A. McBride and Council, a
motion by Court Members Stothers
and Lyons dismissed the appeal of
M. John'ston and the assessments
in the Report were upheld. , A
motion by Members Hickey And
Stothers closed the Court of
Revision on the Smyth Municipal
Drain. Extension and Improvement;
At approximately 9:0Qr p.m., a
motion- by ' Councillors Cranston
and Stothers opened. the Court of
Revision on the Redmond Municip-
• al Drain and appointed Councillors
Cranston, Hickey and Stothers as
members of the Court. Since the
• Clerk had received no appeals on
the assessment in this Drain and no
owners in the Drain appeared
before the Court, a motion by
MembeEs Stothers and Hickey
upheld the engineer's assessments
and closed the Court of Revision on
the Redmond Municiapl Drain.
At this point Council commenced
to conduct, the necessary business
of the Township. The minutes were
read and adopted on motion of
Councillors Cranston .and Hickey.
Gordon Smyth presented a
petition 'for drainage to Council,
after which •a • brief discussion
ensued with engineer,. J. A.
McBride, who had remained After
the Court of Revison at Council's
request. Council chose to await
advice from the Drainage Coordin-
ator before making a decision to
accept the Petition. •
Council was advised that three
light covers are required for the
street lights in Dungannon, and
that Ontario Hydro liad requested
authority to order them. A
discussion of the Dungannon street
light situation took place, and the
Clerk was directed to contact
Ontario Hydro to have the covers .
ordered and to inquire about
procedures to be followed, to install
additional lights in the village.
A motion by Councillors Stothers
and Foran • authorized the road
,Superintendent to advertise for
tenders to supply a 1/2 ton pick-up
truck for the township.
The road accounts were ordered
paid on motion of Councillors
Cranston and, Foran.
