WHITECHURCH NEWS
On WednesdaSyDecember 1st at
2 p.m. the Whitechurch United
Church Women held their meeting
at the home of Mrs. Lorne Durnin.
Mrs. Garnet. Farrier opened the
meeting with a piano selection. All
sang Angels from the realms of
glory. •
Mrs. Farrier led in prayer and
then read part of the Christmas
Story and all read the Magnificat
4 747 from the hymnary in unison
and she continued with the story.
Mrs. Dave Gibb lit a candle of
good will and Mrs.Wardrop sang
the Indian Carol "Twas in the
Moon , of ' Winter Time": Mrs.
Elmer Sleightholm lit the 2nd
candle of Goodwill of Friendship to,
Canadian Indians and Eskimos and
all sang 0 come all ye faithfill.
Mrs. Lloyd Whytock lit the 3rd
candle of Goodwill and Friendship
to French Canadians followed by
the singing of Aiway in a manger.
Mrs. Russel Chapman lit the 4th
candle of Goodwill and Friendship
to All New Canadians followed by
singing of Instant Holy. The Sth
candle of Goodwill and Friendship
was lit by Mrs. Fred Tiffin for New
'Canadians, whose 'homes were
destroyed by war, and was followed
by the singing of Gentle Mary laid
her child. •
Mrs. Clifford' Laidlaw lit •the 6th
candle of ChriStmas Love and Mrs'.
Farrier read Love Came Down' at
Christmas and the second verse of
Lord of all the lands. All read in
unison our Lord's summary of the
law., Mrs. Father read Luke 2:
29-32.
Mrs. Muriel Thompson read two'
Christmas Stories, A Scotch Pine
and Mondonnas Red Socks, both
from the Observer. Mrs. Father
held 'a 'contest of Christmas cards
cut in pieces and each was given an
envelope containing one card.
Mrs. Wardrop won the prize. The '
roll call was answered by twelve
giving a Christmas verse.
GIFT PRESENTED
Mrs. Lloyd Whytock was pres-
ented with a gift by Mrs. Millan
Moore. Mrs. Whytock thanked the
ladies for their gift and kindness in,
remembering her. , Mrs. Lorne
Durnin .closed the meeting With
prayer.
A birthday tea followed 'and an
. exchange of gifts in value not over
30c. Some of the' gifts, were
candles*, soap, paper towel, Over-
ed coat hanger, corsage, pot
holder.
We're hoping this will be a warm,

mas.

The film strip was Our 'Hope
Fulfilled. Following the grace
there was a book display from the
Presbyterian Book Centre.
The lunch conveners were Mrs.
Jack Barr and Mrs. Glen Haldenby.
