Mrs. Jim Bradley of Amberley
was a $100 winner in the recent
Lot° Canada draw. -

Sympathy is extended to Mr. and
Mrs. Jim Hunter in the passing .of
her mother, Mrs. Dan Nicholson of
Lucknow. Mr. and Mrs. Jack
(Wanda) Miller of Barrie were
home with her parentS on Tuesday
evening to attend her grandmoth-
er's funeral on Wednesday of last
week.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wilkins
attended the National Farmer's
Union Convention held in Edmon-
ton, Alberta. Approximately 600
attended the meetings held each
day from Monday to Friday of last
week. They returned home on
Saturday. •
, Mr. and Mrs. John Hunter and
family had her niece, Mr. and Mrs.
Ronald Stanleir and family of
Lucknow and a niece, Debbie
Elliott of Ripley, Sunday afternoon.
Mr. and Mrs. Allan Ritchie and
Bryce had their /daughter Brenda,
Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Huizinga, and
Pauline of Auburn R. R. 1 Sunday
afternoon.

Local hockey fans were keenly
interested in the Toronto-New York
National Hockey League game
Saturday. Dave Famish, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Duncan Farrish of
Lochalsh, is part of the New. York
"youth" defence which coach John
Ferguson says "Have the making
of some future stars in the league''.
This is Dave's first year in the pro
circuit, having come directly from
Junior A hockey 'at Sudbury last
season..

Members of Rev. Doug ICauf-
man's Sunday School class at
Lucknow United Church had
charge of the worship service at the
church on Sunday morning. The
teen group and Rev. Kaufman
portrayed Christmas customs in
various countries around the world.
Assisting with music were Mem-
bers of the junior and senior choir.

A visitor to the community last
Week was Gordon MacKinnon of
St. Petersburg, Florida. Mr.
MacKinnon, an octogenarian, tak-
es great interest in Lucknow and
community, particularly the minor
hockey teams here. He took some
pictures of some of the minor
hockey teams while here, photo-
graphy being a hobby with him.

There was a disappointingly
small attendance at the December
meeting of the Lucknow and
District Horticultural Society on
Tuesday, December 7.. Oply 15
members were present to enjoy a
deliciOus pot luck supper.. The
small attendance may have been
due in part to the inclement
weather.
A business meeting followed

A little baby girl was, born
December 11 to Mr. and Mrs. Jack
Herbson. A first grandchild for
Mr. and Mrs. Herbson Sr. and an
eighth grandchild for Mr. and Mrs.
Floyd Bott.
Mr. and Mrs. Gary Rintoul on
Sunday visited in London at
University Hospital with her moth-
er Mrs. Joe Corey. On the 'way
home they called on her father Joe
Corey at Clinton.
Mrs. 'Earl Caslick visited Sunday
evening with Mr. and Mrs. Wilford
Caslick of Wingham.
Mr. and Mrs. Richard McClen-
aghan and Paul of St. Thomas were
Sunday visitors with Mrs. Ben
McClenaghan and Mr. and Mrs.,
Carl McClenaghan. • On the way
home because of the storm they
had to spend the night at a motel,
Clinton.

Mrs. Bev Kay on Friday took

Knox College.

were Mr. and Mrs. Ronald

very successful flower and craft
show's. A. bus load of members
attended the Flower Show in
Toronto in March, and a prize
winning' float took part in the, Fall
Fair parade in September.', Special
speakers provided interesting dem-
.onstrations it four meetings. All
were well attended.
Miss Carrie Milne had prepared
an interesting report on the work
done by the society. New planters
were placed at 'the east ..and west
entrance to the town, 12 shrubs
were planted at the , Medical
Centre, also yellow tulip bulbs
donated 'by the Legion. 100 'boxes
of plants. and 50 geraniums were
Used 'in the various flower beds:
Winter guards for the trees at the
Medical•Centre were made and put
in place by John Warren.
From Mrs, Alex Andrew's re-
port; the society is in a sound
financial position. On a motion by
Mrs. Ford Cunningham, 'seconded
by' Mrs. George Joynt, the 1976
officers were returned for another
year. Meetings are held on the
second Wednesday of the month' at
2 p.m.
