They had `braved the snowy and wind-swept field to participate in the third annual-Flag Football Championship.. The Blue Bombers, under the leadership of Steve Ball and Kooten's Kougers, guided by John VanKooten, had won the right to play in the. Ripley Bowl. Field conditions during the. season had varied from dry to muddy to snow-covered, Each game was not only a contest against 'an opposing team but against field conditions as well. Traction on the field the day of the final game was good with only some muddy sections near the goal posts., The Blue Bombers were depend- ing on their kicking team to keep them deep in kouger territory and bust their way in for touch-downs. UnfOrtunately for The Bombers, John VanKooten, with the aid of valuable blocking, clawed his way down the field for a touch down. The convert attempt failed, The Blue Bombers were demor- afized. Time was running out, Riding high on their first touch- down, VanKooten made tracks down the field for the !Conger's second touchdown and the final score of the game. • The bell sounded with the score 12-0 in favour of Kooten'§ !Congers. . The score was 3 to 1. Debbie Lamb, Andrea Farrell and Debbie •Van- Kooten scored goals. November 25 - Winners played the Raiders. The score was 1 to 1, Glenda "Gamble scored for the Raiders. Cathy Fludder scored for the winners. November 29 - The Butter Cups played the Explorers. The score was 3 to 2. Explorers won. Debbie Lamb scored One goal and Angela Stewart scored 2. • November 29 - The Raiders played the Tigers. The Raiders I won. The score was 2-0. Kingsbrid ge CWL •The December meeting of the Kingsbridge Catholic Women's League was held at Sullivan's Restaurant and well attended 'by forty-one members. Mrs. Karla Hogan welcomed everyone and presided over the meeting. Mrs. Hogan thanked the Vogt family for the Christmas dinner enjoyed by all. Mrs. Delores Van Osch read the correspondence from Mrs. Karla Hogan and son Dennis, Mrs. Genevieve Kinahan, Save the Family Plan, Brother Carl. Mrs. Hogan presented the bride-to-be, Mildred. Vega, with a statue from the league. Brother Carl gave a few mean- ingful readings. Mrs. Clarke Dalton gave a reporton information received on Family Planning. Mrs. Ann Riegling gave the CNIB report and showed a Christmas film. "The Baby King". Mrs. Hogan present- ed Fr. Dentinger and Brother. Carl with gifts from the league. Mrs.. Betty Frayne organized a draw where Fr. Dentinger drew Paulette Helesic as the 1st prize winner; Brother Carl drew Mary Crawford drawn by Mrs. Roseske. Prizes were donated 'by Bill Van Osch. Fr. Dentinger spoke to the ladies thanking for the ChriStmas gift and the Vogt family for a lovely meal. Fr, wished the league a Merry Christmas.
