MRS; 0, G, ANDERSON
Mrs. 0: G. Anderson, the former
Elizabeth Rutherford, wife of the
late Oliver George Anderson,
passed away at Finecresr Manor
Nursing Home, Lucknow, on. Satur-
day, November 27, in her 90th
Mrs. Anderson was born in West
Virawanosh Township on Januruy
15, 1887, a daughter of the late
Hugh Rutherford, and Elizabeth
Durnin. She received her educa-
- tion at Belfast Public School and
Goderich Collegiate and later
graduated from Peterborough Nor-
mal School.
Mrs. Anderson was a member of
Knox, Presbyterian Church, Bel-
grave, and honorary life
member of the Women's Mission-
ary Society of that church. She was
an active member of the United
Farm Women of Ontario froin 1930
to 1950 and was president of that
organization for a number of years.
One of the founders and organizers.
of Huron County Co-Operative
Medical Services, she was a
director from 1947 to 1969, the full
time this service was in operation.
Surviving are two daughters,
Mrs., Bryce' (Merle) Elliott, tuck-
now, and Mrs. Bernice Kelly,
Vancouver; two sons,-Ross of R. R.
5 Wingham, and Gramme of
Belgrave; 11 grandchildren and
three great grandchildren. She was
predeceased by one son Grant in
1924; her husband in January of
1934; one brother, William Ruther
ford; and one sister, Mrs. John
(Christina) Bennett.
The late Mrs. Anderson rested at

Word was received of the
passing of Portfield (Porde) Shiells,
the last member of the Peter Shiells
family of Amberley.
Mr. Shiells passed away Satur-
day, December 4 in the Bethany
Home, • Everett, Washington,
where he has made his home for
several years. He will be buried in
Marysville, Washington where he
went as a young man.
Fortie was in his 97th year and
enjoying geod health except for his
eye sight failure in later years,
retaining his cheerful disposition.
He was a friend of all who knew
him and is survived by several
nieces and nephews who will miss
the friendship of a deli uncle.

was conducted at two o'clock on
Monday,. November 29, by Rev.
Kenneth limes; minister of Knox
Presbyterian Church, Belgrave.
Interment was in Wingham Cemet-
ery.
Pallbearers were Clarke John-
ston and Alan Dunbar of R. R. 1,
Belgrave, James Taylor, R. R. 5,
Virmgham, Cameron .Proctor of
Clinton, Finlay McGowan of Lon-
don and Grant Rutherford, King-
ston. Floral tributes were carried
by James R.'Coupes of R. R. 5.

Died At Age 65
CHARLES HODGINS
A well-known former business-
man of the town of Wingham,
Charles Hodgins of Wingham died
at the Wingham and District
Hospital on Monday, November U.
He was in his 66th year and death
followed a brief ' illness which
resulted from a heart attack.
Born on concession 10., Kinloss
Township, Charlie was a son of the
late Walter Hodgins and Mary
Jane Statters. He was a farmer and
for 25 years operated a dealership
for Massey Ferguson implements..
He retired in 1971. ,
Charlie was happiest when he
was 'on the go' - making deals,
catching fish, travelling, or win,
ning at bridge. He will be missed
for his ingenuity with machinery,
his generosity and his quiet
dependability.
Left to mourn his passing are his
wife. the former Jean Anderson of .
Luclmow, whom he married in the
Ashfield parsonage in 1/941; two
daughters, Mrs. Jim (Ruth) Alex-
ander of Orchard Park, New York,
and Mrs. Mac (Kathy) Lougheed of
Rodney, Ontario; three grandchild-
ten, David' and Susan Alexander
and Kristen Lougheed; five sisters,
Mrs. 'Jennie Bannerman, London,
Mrs. Annie Thompson, Kitchener,
Marion Hodgins of Cambridge
(lesPeler), Mrs. John • Taylor of
Cambridge' (Gilt) and Mrs. Ray-
mond Snyder, Waterloo; and two
brothers. Harry. Toronto, and
Ralph, London.
The late Charlie Hodgins rested
at the S. J. Walker Funerals Home,
Wingham where service was con-
ducted, at two o'clock on Thursday
by Rev. Barry Passmore of the
Wingham United Church where
, deceased was a member. hater-
