THE LUCKNOW SENTINEL, LUCKNOW. ONTARIO
This Week, In Ripley
tI1T AB WYLDS
The Ripley , Huron Legion hall
has been a busy place during the
past week. From Friday, Decem-
ber 3 to 14th some of the
gatherings there included the
Ripley Women's Institute meeting,
the village voting, the clinic and
then the Senior Citizen's meeting
this past Friday.

In charge of the voting at' the
Legion Hall were Mrs. Irma
Hodgins and Mrs. Elsie Forrester.
The polls were open from eleven in
the forenoon •to eight in the even-
ing. That was Monday, December
6th, the night many people in the
Ripley Kincardine areas watched
their TV set to midnight and never
heard any word of the results. An-
other former Ripleyite was elected
mayor of Wingham, Bill Walden.
The late Jack Restyle was mayor up
until the time of his death this past
rummer.
A delegation" of interested citiz-
ens last Thursday evening appoint-
ed a reeve for Ripley and installed
himin office in the former office of
deck Bill McCreath on the east side
of main street. He was there on
Friday to hear suggestioni and
problems. For many years he
greeted the public in the late W. J.
Crawford's store - now the Carl and
Pat Brennan grocery store. But"
this is his first try at a public
municipal office. Even thbugh the
writer has known him since the
early 1900s, he' still does not know
his name. The printed sign on the
door says "Reeve of Ripley". We
predict that during his term of
office he will quietly manage all
problems.: •
