Mr. and Mrs. Wm J. Haiphrey,
life-long residents of the St. Helens
community, observed. their 64th
wedding anniversary.
Fairview Dairy increased the
• price of milk one cent to 20c a
quart. This was still below the
price in neighbouring towns, where
the price was 22c a quart.
CKNX-TV observed its first
birthday with a special Sunday
night show.
NOvember was ushered' in with a
record-breaking 70 degrees temp-
erature, but before its departure a
total of 24 inches of snow had fallen
and it looked as if winter was here
to stay. Apart from these two
extremes it was a normal Novem-
ber with a,good deal of cloud, 1.51
inches of rain and a low temperiit
ture of 12 degrees.

NOVEMBER 1936
Radio Station CKNX, Wingham,
instituted the "Church of the Air",
which was to be heard each
weekday morning from 10.30 to 11
o'clock. The following Ministerial
Association in the district were
joining to present this daily 1/2 hour
feature - Wingham, Kincardine,
Teeswater, Lucknow, Blyth and
Walkertonz
Work on the branch railway line
to Treleaven's Mill was nearing
completion, which would greatly
speed up the loading and unloading
of ihipmenti from and to one of
the village's busiest industries.
Considerable fill was necessary,
especially through the low swamp.
The construction work was in
charge of the section foreman Roy
McCreight and the C.N.R. Road-
master. ,
Harvey Ackert, local Massey
Harris agent, purchased the former
Malcolm farm north of Kincardine,
and with his family moved to their
new home. -John Kilpatrick, who
had been employed by Mr. Ackert,
took over the implement business.
