Irpcknovi Elect Four NewCouncillors'
Four new councillors were elect-
ed to serve the village of Lucknow
for the next two years at Monday's
election.
Ab Murray, local transport
operator, led the poll with 433 votes
followed by Tom Andrew, a milk
distributor in Lucknow who polled
337. Running third was Bud
Hamilton, local pet/oleum distribu-
tor, who polled 314 votes. The
fourth council position was won by
William Crump of town, an
advertising representative. He
polled 264.
Running ,in fifth position, just
three votes out of the running, was
Buster Whitby who polled 261.
'Other unsuccessful, candidates
were Barry McDonagh, polling
245„ and the three present council-
lors, Marvin Solomon 223, Gordon
Maize 199 and Oliver Glenn 141.
Reeve George W. Joynt was
elected by acclamation,

Kinloss Township voters elected
a new Reeve and three new
councillors on Monday 'of this
• week. One of the present council
was returned to office.
Barry Johnston, a former coun-
aso~ • cillor who resigned 'earlier this year
over a policy dispute on the board„
contested the ReeveshiP and polled
470 votes, defeating 'the sitting
Reeve, Leo Murray, who polled
211. •
Leading the ballot for council
was Grant. Eckenswiller, a former
councillor, who resigned at the
same time as Mr. Johnston: Grant
polled 455 to head the poll and was.
followed by new men, George
A McBride, with 400 votes and David'
Eadie with 358. Gaining the fourth
council seat was Leonard Clairke,
MATO. with 286 votes, the only member of
the present council to be re-elect-
ea. :
Duncan Campbell, a present
councillor, polled 244 for fifth
position. Walter Breckles, also on
the present board, 'Polled -216
Allan Miller, making a bid for
office. registered 214 votes and
Donald Belt, a member of the
present board, 'polled 171.

Frayne Elected To
Huron Co. Board
An election for Separate School
supporters took place in this
immediate area on Monday.
Etigine Frayne of Ashfield
Township defeated Oscar Kieffer of
R. R. 1 Bluevale for a position as
of Separate School
supporters 'in Colborne, Grey,
McKillop, Hullet, Ashfield, East
and West Wawanosh, Morris,
Tumberry, Howick, Goderich,
Wingham, Seatorth, Blyth and
Brussels on the Huron County
Board of Education.
Mr. Frayne polled a 'total of• 623
votes to Mr. Kieffer's. 384.
In Ashfield. Frayne •polled 90 at
the Kingsbridge poll, 16 at the ,
Township. Hall lad 2 at the
Advance Poll„ for a total of 108.
Kieffer polled 4 at Kingsbridge, 6
at the Township /fall and none at
the advance,. total 10.
In West Wawanosh, it was 23 for
Frapie at the Township Garage,
none at the Advance, 'for a total of
23. Kieffer, polled 11 at the
Township Garage, 2 at the Ad-
vance, for a 13 total in West
Wawanosh.,
Cameron McAuley, present
member and vice chairman of the
Bruce County Board ^ of Education,
was re-elected for a two year term
as the representative from Ripley
'and, Huron Township on the board..
Mr.' McAuley. who resides in
Huron Township near Ripley,
polled a total of 729 votes defeating
Carol Bell, polling 344 and Janet
Bannerman with 247.
,Mr. McAuley's total in Ripley
was 200 and Huron Township 529.
Mrs. Bell polled 31 in 'Ripley and
3I34in Huron. Mrs.. Bannerman
polled 31 in Ripley and 216 in
Huron.

Mrs. George Brooks of Lucknow ,
is the happy winner of $5000 in the
Loto Canada drawing on Sunday
night. She purchased her ticket
from Tony Johnstone of Ludmow.

Sunday's draw was ticket shared by
four members of the Royal Bank
staff in Lucknow, Janice Ruther-
ford, John Cousin, Lillian Abbott
and Shirley Hawthorne: They
shared a. prize of $500.

The Lucknow Women's Institute
has donated an Autoclave and
Lamp to the Lucknow Medical
Centre, which are now in use at the
facility. "
Cameron McAuley Ripley Elect
Re-elected To Council Slate
School Board Ripley voters elected four council
members, in Monday's election,
three of them members of , the
present board.
Joe Hodgins led the poll with MO'
votes and Rod MacDonald was
second with 184: Both are on the,
present board. '
A new man in. Ripley Municipal
office will be Lewis Hilborn' who
polled 167 for third spot. Howard
Hodge, a. member of the present
council, was re-elected, polling
157.
Defeated in their bid for office
were Donald Regier, polling 131,
'and Mrs. Margaret Rouse. a
member of the present council,
who polled 104. ,

Died At Pinecrest
Mrs. Dan Nicholson of Lucknow
passed away at Pinecrest Manor
Nursing Home on Monday. Decem-
ber 6 in her 87th year. "
The funeral sehice will be held
on Wednesday,. December 8 at 2
p.m. at MacKenzie Memorial
Chapel. Lucknow. , Interment will i
be in Kincardine Cemetery.

Fred Martin of Paramount was
re-elected for a fifth term as a
director for the Clydesdale Horse
Association of Canada at their
annual meeting held in the Royal
lounge of the Coliseum at the Royal
Wii.rer Fair. ,
At the directors meeting which
followed. Fred was elected presid-
ent for his second term. There are
ten directors across Canada.
