elementary grades had a visit from.
Constable Gayler who was speak-
ing on vandalism. Many of the
students asked questions about
how vandalism occurs. A lot of
little things along with large
occurrences happened on Hallow-

TEACHER OF THE WEEK
This week we •at R.D.S. are
honouring our ymany talented
teacher, Mr. Edward Brown.
Underneath his cool exterior lies a
brain, which enables him to teach
us English, History, .Psychology,
Man in Society, Physical Educa-
tion, Health and Group Guidance.
To him come the many worries and
woes ' because he is our Guidance
Counsellor.
Although born in Goderich, • Mr.
Brown was educated in Goderich,
Clinton, Lucknow. Public and high
schools, Waterloo Lutheran \Univ-
. ersity, Althouse College and the
University of Toronto. Mr, Brown
has his B.A., his physical education
specialist certificate and is
currently working on his guidance
specialist certificate. Since becom-
ing a teacher Mr. Brown has taught
at R.D.S. a total of eight years. He
is married and lives in Lucknow.
Besides teaching Mr. Brown coach,
es interschool sports and referees
intramural games. • ,.•
Recently he was sent by the
Board of• Education with 32 other
Guidance Counsellors East to
observe and learn more about the'
Armed Forces. He left October 30
and returned November 4. Some of
the highlights of this trip were in
Shearwater and Cornwallis where
he saw basic training. Also, the
Guidance Counsellors' toured the
Greenwood Air ' Base . and the
Halifax Naval Ba.e. We here at
R.D:S. are honoured to be taught
by a man such as Ed Brown.
BAND ° -
We were fortunate on November
'18 to ,have • the Walkerton District
Secondary School band perform for
us at our school. Their conductors
had them ' play many enjoyable
pieces of musk. Everyone
thoroughly enjoyed their perform-
ance.
EXAMS
The hectic 'few days of studying
have finally come, to a. close. We
are now back to, the day to day
routine of good old Ripley High.
John Moffat, of Teeswater is a
Fogient in GuelPh Hospital. We
wish him a speedy recovery. John
Moffat resided with his brother
Graham for some time before
moving to Teeswater. •
Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Young of
Lucknow visited on Sunday with'
Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Young.
The Langside 'Whitechurch
Young Peoples held their regular
meeting at Whitechurch Sunday
evening. '
Mr. and Mrs. -john McInneS of
Kinloss have taken an apartment in
the Senior Citizen's apartments in
Teeswater and plan to move there
shortly. Mr. and Mrs. McInnes
lived at Langside for several 'years
before moving to the tenth of
Kinloss later buying a home at
Kinloss. ' • Mr. and Mrs. Frank' Bongertman
and. Lou-Ann of Teeswater visited
with his parents, Mr. and , Mrs.
Albert Bongertman on Sunday.'
Joanne' Bongertman of LucknoW
also spent two days last week with
her 'parents.
held their first school dance. Our
theme was a Country Hoe-Down
and we gaVe prizes for the best
dressed farmers. Prizes were won
by Jeff • Rouse, Shelley Hackett,
HeatherBoyle and Jack Thompson,
Musk was provided by Drumlin.
Thanks goes to everyone who came
and supported our school.
ELEMENTARY NEWS
HOUSELEAGUE SOCCER •
Soccer is winding up for the
season. Even though a few of the
games were played in the snow.
The proven champions for the girls
were Shelley Farrell's team. which
consisted of Shelley Farrell, Shel-
ley ,Strauss, Brenda 'Carr, Kaye
Walden, Michele MacTavish, Sus-
an -Cushnie, Debbie ' ,Stevenson,
Kelly Fitzgerald.
The winners of the boys schedule
was Gill Roy's team which consist-
ed of Roy, Murray Scott, Tim
Cushnie, Robbie Farrell, Shawn
Coiling, Larry Needham, Paul
Trepanier, Adam Prazanga, Jerry
