County Board of Education.
Quality of education would be my **Clive, keeping in
mind, my convictions, morals and the better.financino of the
system, in the forefront at all times.
Being a father of 8 children three whom have graduated
froM Goderich District Collegiate, I believe education is a
very important' part of our lives.
I am a beef,, cash crop farmer, who has served on local
school boards and municipal councils. I feel 1 can be of -
service to you the' voters.

Parents
A surprise birthday party, was
given to Mr. and 'Mrs. Raymond
Leddy by their fathily on Saturday
evening, November 20 at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. " Bevin Tiffin,
VVhitechurch.
Nine of their ten children were
present. They were Mr. and Mrs.
Dennis Leddy, Kitchener; 'Mr. and
Mrs. Ken Leddy, St. Augustine;
Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Thomson,
Whitechurch; Mr. and Mrs. Wayne
Fear, Brussels; Mr. and Mrs. Bill 4
Andrews, Auburn; Kathleen, Lon-
don; Len Baird, R. R. Wingham;
Mr. and Mrs. Bevin Tiffin;
Elizabeth, VVingham; Danny, Luck-
now; John O'Connor, Lucknow.
Mrs. Danny Leddy and Mr. and
Mrs. Bill Leddy were unable to
attend.

•present taking pictures. Cards and
dancing were enjoyed.
A ham and turkey supper was
served with two birthday cakes. A
humidifier was presented to the
parents by the family.

Service Held
At St. Helens
The annual Remembrance, Day
service at St. Helens • was held in
the Wonien's Institute Hall on
Sunday, November 7. Members of
the' Lucknow Legion Branch 309,,
and the Auxiliaiy, were joined by
residents of the community.
The guest speaker, Mr. Bev Kay,
student minister of Whitechurch
Presbyterian Church, gave a fitting
Remembrance Day message.
Choir members of St. Helens
United Church, and Stephen Prit-
chard of Lucknow Anglican
Chuieh, were accompanied by.Mrs.
Bruce Raynard as pianist. All
joined in the hymns - 0 God Our
Help, and Unto the Hills. Stephen
favoured with a solo, No Man is an
Island. Prayer by Mr. Kay was
followed by 0 Canada.
At the cenotaph, two minutes
silence was observed, with •the Last
Post and Reveille being sounded by
Paddy • Murray, Paul Finlay and
Steven Atkinson "on trumpets.
Wreaths were placed by, Bud
Thompson, Legion president; Mrs.
Joan Robinson for - the. Ladies'
Auxiliary to the Legion; Reeve Bob
Lyons, the Township of West
Wawanosh; and Mrs. William
Purdon fOr the St. Helens Women's
Institute, Mr. Kay gave the
benediction.
Howard , Thompson and' Mrs.
Gerald Murray 'won the ' lucky
draws. '
Misses Nellie and Margaret
Malcolm of Lucknow visited on
Wednesday with Edna and May,
Boyle. .
Mrs. Marretta HOdgins of Lon-
don spent the, past week at her'
home here.
Ladies from here attended the tea
and bazaar at Kinloss on Wednes-
_day...Sandy McEwan won the quilt.
Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Hodgins
of London spent a few days at their
farm home here.
Mr. and Mrs. Howard Bennett of .
Toronto spent Saturday 'with' Mr.
and Mrs. Art Haldenby.
P. A. Murray is a patient in the
Wingham and District Hospital
with pneumonia. We wish him a
speedy recovery.
Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth MacDon-
ald and Carl were in Kitchener
during, the week where Kenneth
required medical attention. • Lisa
stayed here with her grandparents,/
Mr. and Mrs. Tom MacDonald.
A goodly number from the
Anglican congregation attended
the confirmation SerVice at St.
John's Church; Bervie, on. Sunday
morning. Sixteen candidates were
presented by Rev. George Garratt.
Tammy and Michele Hodgins were
from \ Kinlough. The Right
Reverend David Ragg' of London
was the Confirming Bishop.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Currie of '
Waterloo, Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Scott
of Durham visited with Mrs.
Gertrude Walsh over the weekend.
Rev. Andrew Lane of Goderich
and his nephew Robert MacDonald
of Toronto visited with the Lane
and Maulden' families.
Friends of Frank Maulden are
pleased to see him hOrne again
after a lengthy ,stay in the
Wingham and District Hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. John Scott and
Edna•and May Boyle spent Monday
in London and attended a farewell
party for their cousin Mrs. Pearl
Lloyd.
The many friends of Roy
Schneller of Wingham, and former-
ly pf here, will be pleased to know
that he is • making favourable
progress in St. Mary's Hospital,
Kitchener 'after undergoing surg-
ery on his hip. He is in room 209.

The Holyrood Women's Institute
held its first euchre party on
Tuesday evening. Five tables were
in play. High lady, Mrs., Annie
Stanley. High gent, Ellwood
Elliott. Lucky prize, Stewart
McDonald.
The December meeting of the
Holyrood Women's Institute will be
a noon smorgasbord at 12.30 p.m.
at the ,home 'of Mrs. 'John Scott' on
December 2nd. Roll call, A
homemade Christmas card contest. •

Each member is reminded to bring

and Brandon returned to their
home in Wallaceburg after visiting
with Mr. and Mrs. Bert Nicholson.
Lois Nicholson, who spent the past
week in . Wallaceburg, returned
home with them. .
Mr. and Mrs, Welch and son,
. who had lived in Mrs. 'Marretta
Hodgins' apartment, have moved
to Kincardine, and we welcome
Mr. and Mrs. Sam Rider who are
now 'occupying the apartment.
Some from here attended the
Royal Winter Fair at Toronto
during the week.
The Girl Guides and Brownies
held a most successful bazaar and
tea on Saturday 'afternoon in the
