Carman -Pollock, 53, of R.R., 3
Auburn, narrowly escaped death
Thurkday of last week when he was
pinnet up to his neck in a creek on
his Colborne Township farm under
his tractor, provincial police said.
An OPP spokesman said Mr..
Pollock was plowing at about noon
when his tractor came to the muddy
. edge of the creek. Afraid the
machine might slip out from under
him, Mr. Pollock jumped from the
tractor onto the slippery bank, only
to have the machine roll over on top
of him. The rear wheel and axle
held him in the water with only his
face above the suiface, police said.
Mr. Pollock's cries for help were
heard by his wife, who called 'the-
neighbours. One man, Alex
Nivins, tried to dig Mr,. Pollock out
and when Robert Anderson arriv-
ed, the two men attached a chain to
the tractor and lifted it enough for
Mr. Pollock to get' free.

home of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon
Kirkland to spend a social time

injuries. He suffered from shock
and minor injuries.
.,„ Police said the bottom of the
creek was muddy, which protected
Mr. Pollock from some of the
weight of the tractor. Had the
bottom been rocky, he might have
been crushed, they said.
The mud also protected hini frOm
the cold water of the stream, police
said. •

who has been a patient in hospital

in the community and attended
