TEACHER OF THE WEEK
Mr. Surinder Malhotra was born
in India, His education was
obtained in ' India 'and Canada,
Sam, 'as- he is known to: all of his
students, has a very impressive list
of degrees. He has his Bachelor of
Science (honours) in India, M.S. at
Guelph, H,SA. Type B and H‘S.A.
Type A.
He has taught at R,D.S. during,
seven of his eight years of
teaching. The subjects he teaches
are, Science, Mathematics, Chem-
istry, Biology.
• When asked why he, came to
teach at Ripley •he said, "Due to
less population, clean air, and away
from the big city. • •
Mr. Malhotra now lives in
Goderich. He is married and has
one 'son Kenneth.

EXAMS
As exams were fast approaching,
students at R.D.S. had their noses
in their books, studying very hard.
• The exams started on Friday,
November 12th and continued
through until Wednesday, Novem-
ber 17th.

REMEMBRANCE DAY • SERVICE
On Wednesday, November 10th
everyorie assembled in the gym. for
our annual Remembrance Day
service.
This year Mrs. Swanton's Dram-
• atic Arts Class aided Mrs. Burgess'
World Religions Class in' the
arrangement of the program.
The program started off.with the
• singing of "'Last Night I Had. the
Strangest Dream" and then there
were readings by the two classes.
This was followed by two
minutes of silence to honour the
men that gave up their livesrfor our country,
Ann Cluly read- the Prayer 9f St:
hancis which. 'was. followed by a
closing song,- "If We. Only Have
Love".
Debbie Stevenson, Sandra Daw-
son, Shawn Fidler, Frank Emerson,
Chris Guikema and Heather Van. Horne led the student body in the
singing of two songs, The pianist
was Tom Wilson.
Thanks goes to everyone who
participated.
ELEMENTARY NEWS
VOLLEYBALL •
Volleyball has started for another
season. The boys and girls are
busy practicing. Once again the
girls 'team is coached' by Mr.
Stanley and the boys by. Mr.
O'Donohue. They • are getting
ready to compete . with schools in
the surrounding area:'

Sympathy of-, the community is
extended to Mr. and Mrs. Dave
Bridle' in the, loss of his Mother,
Mrs.: Wilfred Bridle, who passed
,away in Guelph November 1st. The
Bridles own the former Lloyd
Moffat 'farm On the 8th of Kinloss
and resided 'there for some time
before moving to New Hamburg.
Mr. arid Mrs. Wesley Yourig of
Lucknow, formerly of Langside,
attended the wedding of their '
nephew Terry Reid in Kincardine
on Friday.
Many from this area attended
the reception in Teeswater on
Saturday evening in honour of Mr.
and Mrs. Ken. Scott,' newlyweds.
The Brownie Pack and Girl Guide
Co. of Holyrood • are holding a
bazaar in the Kinlough' Anglican
Church on Saturday. afternbon.
The Langside Whitechurch
Young Peoples visited' at Pinecrest
Manor, Lucknow on Sunday after-
noon, and Sunday evening attend-
ed the film "In 'Search of Noah's
Ark" being shown in Wingharn.
Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs.
Donald England of Whitechurch on
the birth of a son in Wingham
Hospital. •
Wesley Young -off Lucknow '
visited with Mr. and Mrs. 'Clifford
Young on Sunday.

Commencement Exercises 'were
held Friday evening at the Madill
Secondary School in Wingham with
a large crowd in attendance.
Congratulations to 'all who received
certificates and aWards.• Fred de
Boer , and ',Derek VanDer, Klippe
were two who received certificates
from this' area with Derek also
receiving an award in electroriics.

Mr. end Mrs. •John Hunter and
family visited Wednesday evening
of last week with his nephew, Mr.
and Mrs. Karol)d Menary and
family of • R. R. 2 Auburn.
Mr. and Mrs'. Jerry Huizinga and
Pauline of Auburn R. R. 1 spent
Sunday at the home of her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Allan Ritchie, and
Bryce. -
Paul 'Hackett spent the weekend
at the home of his aunt, Mr.• and
Mrs. Howard Walker of Wingham.
His parents, Mr. and Mrs. D. A.
Hackett. and Lori were Sunday
supper guests at the Walker home.
Paul came home with them.
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Kirkland
had their daughter Nancy, Mr. and
Mrs. Gordon Folkard of Belgrave
and Mr. and Mrs, Jim Hunter on
Sunday. On Saturday evening of
last week- Mr. and Mrs. Wm. G.
Hunter of Lucknow and Mr. and'
Mrs. 'Roy Keane and family of
Cardiff called at the Kirkland
home.
Mr. and Mrs. Allan Ritchie
accompanied his mother, Mrs.
Wesley Ritchie of Lucknow . to
London on Monday of this week
where she visited her doctor for a
check. up. • •
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wilkins
visited Sunday afternoon with his
sister, Mr. and Mrs. Howard
Carlaw of Paisley.
