Monday at 5 p.m. was the
deadline for filing nominations for
municipal and school board posi-
tions.
At the close of the nomination
period, four lively elections had
taken shape in the four southern
most municipalities in Bruce
County.
Here in Lucknow, Reeve George
Joynt was re-elected by acclama-
tion but nine men will seek the four
council seats.
InRipley, by the cl6se of nomina-
tions, they did not have a
• nomination for Reeve, with present
Reeve George Tranter deciding to
retire. Six people will seek three
council seats. This will mean
another period of nomination in
Ripley 'to fill the Reeve, poSition.
In Kinloss Township, Reeve Leo
Murray is being challenged for the
township's top position by a former
cOuncillor, Barry Johnston. Eight

In Huron Township, Reeve Russ
Stanley is retiring and Deputy
Reeve Elmer Smeltzer and Council-
lor Mike Snobelen will contest the
Reeveship: Bert Elliott is Deputy
Reeve by acclamation and six men
will 'seek the three council seats.
Ashfield Township and West
Wawanosh Township, in Huron
County, will see acclamations for
Reeve, Deputy, Council and Aub-
urn Trustees. All members of
council were returned for another 2
'Year term.
Huron County School Board,
serving Ashfield and West Wawa-
nosh; Huron Perth Separate School
Board serving Ashfield, East and '
West Wawanosh and Colborne;
Bruce County School Board•serving
iucknow, Kinloss, C'ulross and
Teeswater all returned their -pres-
ent members by acclamation.
In Bruce, the school board
member for Ripley and Huron
TOWnship;. Canieron McAuley of
near Ripley, is being challenged by
two women, Carol Bell of Point '
Clark area and. Janet Bannerman of
the Boiler Beach area.

The Lucknow Furniture factory
was sold this week to Montgomery
Motors of Lucknow.
The factory has been., inactive
since the end Of September, 1972
when Lucknow Furniture Co.
ceased operations here.
The sale was completed by' Reg.
A, Powell Real Estate of Milliken
and Kinlough.
Principals it, the factory owner-
ship were , Freiburg Bros. of
Toronto and Liberty Ornamental
Iron Company.
Gordon Montgomery, who pur-
chased the building and property,
said the building would be removed
and the property used as a parking
area for their school bus fleet and
also as possible expansion property
for their car dealership and garage.
The factory was founded about

and Oscar Kieffer of the Wingham area will seek one seat, on the
Huron County Board:of Education
representing Separate School sup-
porters in the north end of the
county.
All candidates have until *5 p.m.
Tuesday to withdraw their nomina-
tion. As this falls past the Sentinel
deadline time, we cannot report on
arty Withdrawals, but all indications
point that no withdrawals are'
expected. All candidates appear to
be serious contenders.

lucky winner of $10,000 in the
October 28 drawing of Wintario•

Remembrance Day
Veterans paraded to the Luck-
now Cenotaph on Thursday, Nov-
ember 11th where they were joined
by other residents of the, commun-
ity to ,observe 'Remembrance Day
and pay tribute to the dead of past
wars. •
The parade was headed by the
Lucknow District School Band
under bandmaster Gordon Cayley.
The Ladies 'Auxiliary and Legion
flag bearers were Mrs. Anna
Johnstone, Mrs. Susan McNaught-
on , RusSell Whitby' and Ed
Blackwell.

Associate of Music diploma from
Western Ontario Conservatory Of
Music, London, in co=operation
with the University of Western
Ontario at 'Music Convocation on
Saturday, November 6th.
Guests from Lucknow, Belgrave,
Brussels and Londesboro attended
the .exercises.

years manufacturing furniture and
during the second world war
operated as Maple Leaf Aircraft,
manufacturing airplane parts.
Following the war, the factory was
closed for a number of years until
1958 when the ,Beatty Ladder Co.
purchased it and re-opened it.
Beatty's later sold to Freiburgs and
it operated until 1972.as Lucknow
Furniture Co.
Mrs. Elliott received it 'cheque
from Wintario last Friday.

Len MacGregor, extension as-
sistant for Huron County with the
ministry of agridulture and food,
said more than $1,000, certificates,
pins and plaques were awarded to
30 clubs. He said 368 members
participated in '485 projects.
Jim is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Alex Nivins of concession 1, West
Wawanosh.

Mrs. Harry Coiling of the Ripley
area was the winner of $1000 in the
Lions Club Zone radio bingo game.
