A large front window was installed 'by Huber Homes of Ripley. The shop is just south of his father's new electrical store in the building owned by Mr. and Mrs. Ardill Mason. - Tuesday morning of last week gave everyone a scare with' the ground covered with snow. It sure looked like winter was here to stay.. At the recent 4-H Achievement Night held for the Ripley grain and calf dubs in the Huron Township hall, Courtney MacDonald, who was here for the weekend, showed slides that be had taken of them during the fall fair in September. Courtney, who now lives in London and is >, member of the lab staff in St. Joseph's Hospital there, had in past years himself successfully completed fourteen clubs. Unfor- tunately for his wife Susan (formerly Susan .rarrell) she was unable to come up. She too is a lab technician in St. Joe's and it was a weekend on the job for her. ` * * * * * * Mr. and" Mrs. John Lindsay of Lindsay, Ontario sent word, to her grandmother of the birth' of their daughter, Heather Christena. She was born in Lindsay Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Lindsay is the former JoAnne Loveridge and while' attending school here she lived with her grandmother, Mrs. Bert Picot. While, at the Ripley District High School JoAnne took an active ,part• in all phases of student 'activity. She was the, valedictorian of her class, church organist, director of 'music and in athletics. JoAnne then Went to University in Toronto and became a hospital physiotherapist in' Toron- to. A few years ago Mr, and Mrs. John Lindsay moved from the city. * * * Allan and Glenda Gardner and son Aaron of yanastra spent the weekend with •her sister and family, Donnie and Carol Fludder, •Tammy and Jason. * * * * • The Ripley , Fire Department made two trips to the Beach area on Sunday. The first time was about three in the morning. The land mark barn at the top of the hill above Bruce Beach at the' 8th concession and lake shore roads was the place. Here the firemen got the fire out. Then, just before ten Sunday night, the fire Whistle in Ripley,, sounded again. This time , it was the Point Clark• area where once again the peat ground was smold- ering, perhaps started from burn- ing leaves earlier in the day. The firemen were out about an hour and once again were able to put out the fire. • s. * ,* a * * Mr. and Mrs. Jim Brooks visited • hii sister Myra, Mrs. Cecil Norman in Hospital in London on Wednes- day. Mr. and Mrs. Don McCosh were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Thompson of Purple Grove. * * * Mr. and Mrs. Nick Peet returned. from a happy holiday in their homeland, Holland. Mrs. Mary (Donnie) MacDonald is visiting in Toronto with.
