Although Ripley's cross Country
runners did not win at the B.I.A.
Cross Country Meet at Kincardine
H.S:, they made a valiant effort
and, deserve the continuing support

StudentS from Bruce Peninsula
travelled over to Ripley on October
• 12 to play volleyball. Our jullier
girls team wipedBruce Penn with a
score of 15-3 for their first ••gathe
and, did even better in, the second
game With a score, of 15.04
Ripley senior,' girls ' played two//
tough games. We wound up
victorious in the first game with a
score•of 15-8:. Bruce Penn's spirits
rose and they played a very close
second .game but not good enough
to defeat Ripley's senior, girls. The,
final score was '16-14. -
The junior boys started off on the
right foot and defeated Bruce Penn
with a score of 15-3 for the first
game. The second game also
started off well with Bruce Tenn
once again being defeated by a
score of 15-5.
Our senior boys were determined
to keep up our winning streak. The
first game was_a very close match
RIPLEY DISTRICT SCHOOL
with Ripley coming up on top with a
score of 15-13. The second game
was played in Bruce Penn's favour.
They defeated Ripley 15-7. At the
start of the third gaMe, everyone
was ready for another 'win , by
Ripley. But not Bruce Penn. .They
played 'a very close game but
Ripley 'managed to become victor-
ious with a score of 15-11

Uproar, with, the preparation for our.
annual commencement. This year
it will be held Friday, October 22.
We will look forward to the return
of the Level V graduates.
Hopefully there will - be a big
turnout both young and old.

for the Cross Country Run to be
held on Wednesday, October 20 at
Point Farms Park. -
Those winning placings from one
to six in each class will attend the
run next week. Those placing

On Monday, October 4, Murray
Gaunt, Liberal M.P.P. for our area,
spoke to the Grade 8 students on
the parliamentary system. This
was followed by 'a question period
which the' students found very
informative. ,
Heike Kulle, an 11-year-old girl
from Germany, has recently. come
to Canada to live with relatives.
She is learning English while
continuing her education in Ittrom
9,, Grade 6 at Brookside. ,
Recently- Mrs. Warren Zinn
presented . Brookside with two .
copies of "Frontier Days to Mod-
ern Days", a history of north east
Ashfield and part 'of West Wawa-
nosh, for use in the library, 'We
certainly appreciate this gift.
