Women, Ripley, held their. Autumn
Thankoffering meeting in the
church hall on October with
representatives from all 5 Units.
Unit 5 was in charge of program,
and their leader, Mrs. Walter
Black, presided.. Devotions were in
charge of Mrs. Ray HaMilton, Mrs.
Oscar White and Mrs. , Jack
McGuire. Mrs. Wm. Scott sang
two delightful solos. Mrs. Lorne.
Sparks was guest speaker and had'
the theme "Thanks and used
Romans 1 as the basis of hey
inspiring message. We are created
so that we can know God is there.
Truth lies in the word 'of God and
great joy, can • be obtained from
studying His word. Praising the
Lord for all things does marvellous
things to us. We are God's
-children when' the Holy Spirit has
come to us.
Mrs. Robert Osborne and Mrs.
Wm. Arnold were in .charge of the
business portion of the meeting.
. The price of meals was raised to
$3.75. A workshop is being held in
Hanover • on October 18th. The
Bazaar is being held in Octolier and
annual meeting on. November 23rd.
An invitation to 'attend the 25th
anniversary of Knox W.M.S. was
received for October' 23rd. A letter
of thanks was received from Mrs.
Cecil darnochan for 'a gift in June.

Pinecrest Manor for 4 Friday's in
November. Tentative plans are
being made for a Family Night later
this month. Mrs. Lloyd Worthing-
ton announced 'the next Christian
Women's Club with Miss Ruby
Mayberry of Kansas City as guest
speaker.
Mrs. Gerald Coiling expressed
the courtesies of the evening and
lunch was served by members of
Unit 5.
St. Marys C.W.L.
Mrs. Friendorf was hostess for
the October meeting of St. Mary's
Catholic Women's League, Luck-
now. There were 8 ladies in
attendance.
Fr. Dentinger opened the meet-
ing with the League Prayers in
unison. Mrs. Leddy, president,
then carried. on for the rn meeting.
Secretary's report was given ,'by
Mrs. MacDonald and correspon-
dence read and dealt with. Mrs.
'O'Donnell gave ) two very timely
readings on the Blessed Virgin, as
"October is•the month of the Rosary.
Miss Linda Feldy read a, story of
Grandmother's Thanksgiving. Day"
and Mrs. Gerry Ross one on
Thanksgiving. Final arrangements
were made for the program group
to go to Brucelea• Haven on October
14th.
Fr. Dentinger closed the meeting
with the Consecration to the
Blessed Virgin and the meeting
adjourned with lunch served by
committee in charge.

On October 14, the regular
meet ing of Trinity United. Church
Women was held at,tlie home of
Mrs. Warren Zinn with an attend-
ance 'of 19. The president, Mrs.
Chester .Hackett, opened the meet-
ing. by reading a -poem, "Thank
You God For Everything". Mrs.
Doug Cameron, with her guitar,
and assisted ,by Mrs. Doug
Raynard, • led in sing songs
throughout the meeting which we
all enjoyed, beginning with the two
songs "Something to, sing about
and This land is your land". Mrs.
Hackett then led in prayer. The roll
call was answered with a verse on
Harvest.
,Mrs. D. A. Hackett introduced
the devotions, "God Supplies Our
Needs" and The Lord is ,, My
'Shepherd was sung and Mrs. D. A.
Hackett led in prayer. Mn, Doug
Cameron read the scripture from
John, followed by the singing of
"We Gather Lord, This Happy
Day": Mrs. D. A. Hackett gave the
meditation and Mrs. Cameron read
a poem "A 'Happy Heart",
followed by a song "Jesus Calls"
and Mrs, Hackett closed • the
devotions with prayer. Mrs. Alex
Hackett gave two poems "The
Wagon Wheel" and "A Neigh-
bour". Mrs. Cook gave the study
book on the .Life. of Mr., Stephen
Moone, 'in Korea. Mrs. Wm.
Andrew led in prayer.
The business portion of the
meeting ' follOwed: \ The next
meeting the time, will change to
1.30 p.m." Mrs. Alex Hackett
reported on the West • Huron
Regional Rally ,held at the Nile and',
also told • us about hearing the
Moderator• speak, at Mitchell. The
correspondence was read, . A bale
will be packed the middle of
NoveMber. Following the busi-
ness, .all joined in singing Kum Ba
Yah and• the meeting closed with
prayer and lunch was served by the
committee in charge.
Fall Rally Held
At Wingham •
The Fall Rally of the' Presbyterial
was held in the Fellowship Hall of
St. Andrew's Church in Wingham
on October the sixth. The theme
was "Marching On • The Home-
front" .•
After the call to worship by Mrs.
Don Robertson, vice president, of
Purple Grove, Mrs. 'Alvin' Mundell
led in a sing song. Mrs. Gordon
Wall welcomed the ladies. to 'St.
Andrew's. The scripture was read
by Mrs. John A. MacDonald,
meditation by Mrs. Roas Cuniming
and Mrs. Lovell Huston led in
prayer. A solo by Mrs. Philip Steer
was much enjoyed.
The minutes of the last rally were
read by Mrs. E. MacLean. Mrs.
Evan Keith •gave the, treasurer's/
report.
Each auxiliary, afternoon' and
evening, had a topic to present
after Mrs. Bregman introduced the
program. These were done by
means. of skits, displays, and by
reports covering the types of work
done among the Chinese, French,
Ukranian, Hungarian, Italian, Kor-
eans, and Indian ministry on
ReserVes, Visitations to hospitals
and Homes for the Aged were
presented by a group of young girls
from South Kinloss who delighted ,
the audience with choruses sung to
the aged: C.G.I.T., C.O.C. and
Explorer's work were also explain-
ed. Slides• were shown on Flora
House in Winnipeg, and Fellow-
ship House there. An interesting
demonstration on what goes on, in
Tyndal House' in Montreal' was
enjoyed, and reports. were read
about Evangel Hall and St.
Matthew House in Toronto. A skit
on Armagh was self-explanatory,
The program was well presented
attd informative.
Offering , was taken by the
Goforth group and offertory prayer
by Mrs. John de Boer of White-
church. Courtesies were given by
Mrs. Joe Martin of Brussels. 'Mrs.
English and ' Mrs. Alvin Mundell
thanked all who assisted in any
way. The closing hymn was sung.
The Lord's prayer was repeated.
Grace was sung and lunch served .
by the hostesses.
