Many, many apologies to you
'folk. who enjoy Aubrey's column so
much. The fault lies with me as I
--missed the. Sentinel deadline last
week. I've promised Aubrey, "it
won't happen again!" Here's
Aubrey:
COLUMN 3
• Mr. and Mrs. Newbold have
been. on 'a couple of week's holiday
with' a new honse trailer. This did
not mean that "when the cats
away, the mice can play''."
Everything is the same as though
they are here. They have set up
such a well put together organiza-
tion.that they can 'depend on the
staff in' every way. We.straTtolhe
best in all departments. Yes,'
everyone knows their jobs and we
who are here find everything the
same. Except for that final 'yes"
or "no".
Sorneone , once wrote a very
beautiful 'poem on the "golden
age". Now,: I don't find myself
growing old, but I do find age
growing on me. 'This is more or
less an individual view point/. Are
they worth 'to the world the care
and help they are given or does the
world just owe. it to them. If I had
my wishes there would be f`two".
One would be that the moment that
I became absolutely useless I would'
take my last breath and that I take
the last puff on my pipe with that ,
breath.
As I mentioned before, the good
Lord saw fit to make us all just a
little different from 'the other and
there is no such thing as "If I were I
you, 'or you were me".
Now, we have a young lady, 96
yeats and some months on earth
with us here, at the home. She is
quite an active lady. , Sometimes
she'll dance a little. You had better
be on your toes if you want to cross
wits with her. She maintains it is
the "passing of tine'.' that makes I
her years add up. "Life to many, is
worth living".

COLUMN 4
So many people have aid' to me
"That pipe will be the death of you
yet". 0 But the old boy keeps on
trying. to prove its worth".
At "Open House", after mingl-
ing with the crowd for some time I
went out in the driveway for a few
puffs. •
Two prominent "out of town"
ladies came' out. After looking
around, one said "Let's walk down
the hill and have a better lOok",
They went straight down toward
the road; glancing back over their
shoulders until they reached the
desired shot. They looked from one
end of the building to the other and
back. One said, "isn't it
beautifpl?" 'The other replied, "It
is something like we see in pictures
but never in real life". Somehow
this intrigued me, I wondered what
they saw so I walked down myself
LucknOw
and closed, my eyes, then' looked
around. I Saw something • I had
never• seen before. , Folks, it is
beautiful! The grading of the
different slopes. The flowers,
small trees and shrubs. Every
blade of grass in place. These
ladie,s were so right. I walked back
up and through the doors of the
Horne with .a new feeling of pride
TV
and awareness. That old pipe had
done .it again! ,) • ;
Isn't it strange that we allow
ourselves , to gpt • so ,selfishly
wrapped up in our own affairs and
cares. Just driving along through
life, always able to pick out the
dark places and the nastS, ones and
hanging on to ,them while there are'
so many nice and beautiful things
that one could get just as easily. SO
many little joys and pleasures.
I did-not say happiness because I
don't believe real happiness can be
obtained unless shared with some-
one 'else,
We at Pinecrest do not have very
many chances to see the real
beauty of nature and other
wonderfpl things but we are always
ready to share ' your joys
pleasures and help turn thei
real happiness, and' so , rmi
these dark places become' so
brighter or fade away comp
Respectively submit
