The 3rd meeting of Reid's
Corners #2 Happy Hemmers was
held at Mrs. Lowry's home. All
members were present. Mrs.
Messenger showed us what the
grain of the fabric and stay-stitch- .
ing is.
We, then paired off and. Mrs.
Lowry 'showed how to make darts
and how to do plain stitch on .a knit.
Mrs. Messenger showed French '
seams, flat fell seams, plain seams
and top, stitched seams.
We then practised making the
seams and closed with' refresh-
ments:

formerly a resident of Lucknow,'
returned recently from Cleveland
where she had attended General
Grand Chapter 'Of the Order of the,
Eastern S&r; She was accompan-
ied by ' Mrs, Florence Reavie and
Mrs. Kathleen Moffat, also both of
WinghaM. Mrs. Bell joined the
Order of the Eastern Star while a
resident in Cleveland in 1942 and
became a member of the Wingham
'branch in 1969. She is now
ASsociate Matron and will - be
Worthy' Matron this month. Mrs.
Bell 'had earlier attended Grand
Chapter in Toronto. •
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Ritchie of
St. Thomas visited on the weekend
with his mother Mrs. Gordon
Ritchie of Lucknovv.
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Alton of
Lucknow attended a "cousin's
get-to-gether" on Saturday, Octob-
er 2nd at the home of Mrs. Keith
Webster at Blyth. '
The Lucknow Women's Institute
will hold their regular meeting in
the Assembly Room of the Lucknow,
Town Hall on Tuesday, October
12th at 1 p.m.
Mrs. Ed Topping (Clara Mc-
Whinney) and daughter Mrs., Mary
Carment, both of Prince Albert,
Saskatchewan, have been visitors •
with Mrs. Grace Campbell, Luck-
now and other relatives.
Mrs. .Beatrice Adams, Lucknow,
has returned home after six weeks
in Wingham Hospital and Univer-
sity Hospital, London.
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Thompson of
Windsor were recent visitors in
Lucknow. Misses Lorna Campbell
and Helen Thotnpson accompanied
them for a weekend holiday , at
Glengarrian Resort on Hall's Lake
:,near Minden.
Assisting 'with the Canadian
Cancer Society exhibit at the In-
ternational Ploughing Match were
Mrs. Roy Emberlin and Mrs. Jack.
McKim. Free coffee was served: at
the display *and Thursday's coffee,
sugar and cream were donated by
Larry Cowan's Grocery, Lucknow.
Two hundred cups of toffee were
served Thursday afternoon.
T. J. Salkeld of Lucknow has
been' visiting for the past two weeks
with 'his daughter Dr. Helen
Salkeld, at North. Gower. He had
previously spent two weeks in
Calgary with his daughter, Mrs.
Margaret Schmidt.
Mrs. Jessie Allin of Lucknow will
move this Friday to make her home
in Welland. She will be living 7,
miles from her daughter arid
son-in-law Mr. and Mrs, Ralph
Mines who live at Wainfleet. Mrs.
Allin is the former Jessie MacKen-
zie and has lived in Lucknow most
of her life.
Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Herbert of
Lucknow , have returned from a
motor trip to the East Coast'.

wish ,her a good recovery.
Mr. and Mrs. Arthur -Graham

were in London on Thursday and

Boyle of London spent the weekend
with Edna sand May Boyle and
other relatives here. Mrs. Lloyd is
moving to Burlington this month
where Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Lloyd
now reside.

roy spent a few days with Malcolm
Lane and Hugh.

President Janet Wilkins called
the fifth meeting to order with
seven girls attending and repeating
the 4-H pledge on Tuesday,
September 28 at the home of Mrs.-
Blake Alton:
• Anne Alton read the minutes of
the last meeting and it was decided
to hold the next meeting on .
Tuesday, October 12.
Mrs. Alton discussed around the
clock with cereal and popular
pastas. Miss Ritchie demonstrated
the cooking of pasta using lasagna
noodles.
In group work we had lasagna.
