The Justice. Department announ-
ced the appointtnent of P. S.
MacKenzie of . Walkerton, a native
of Lucknovv, as Bruce County
Judge.
Rae Watson of Lucknow was •
elected Grand Governor of Ontario
of the Loyal Order of Moose,
Barry •McQuillin of the Lucknow
4-H Calf Club had the grand
champion . steer at the Huron
County show. at Seaforth.
Winter made in impreSsive
entry when a considerable amount
of snow fell during the night of
September 20th. The white stuff
was visible for several hours before
the sun broke through. Although
the snow was unusual it was not a
surprise, as the temperatures for
weeks previous had been more like
Noirember than September., One
half inch of snow fell, which set a •
record.. The only other snow
recorded locally in September was
in 1891 and 1940 when only a trace
was visible.

SEPTEMBER 1936
Duncan MacDonald, 30 year-old
Lucknow resident, was' killed in a'
motor accident' a ,• mile south of
Du'ngannon. He left his wife and
four young children age 4 to 10
years. Seriously injured in the
accident was Tom MacKenzie of
Lucknow with the third member,
Bill Webster suffering a fractured
leg.
Stuart MacLennan, 11 year-old
son of "Piper Kenny" MacLennan
of Ashfield, won- himself a place as
drummer on, Lucknovv Pipe Band.
He practiced on a stove at home.
The Kinloss School Fair was held
at Holyrood. Everett 'Lane won the
boy's solo class and Jack . Ackert
won second.
A' dance at Paramount to
Hogan's orchestra could be attend-
ed by 'gents for 25c and ladies' for
10c, tax included.
Employees of the. Lucknow Table
Co. joined the carpenters and
joiners union. About 20 of the 3,0
employees were in favour.

Mr. and Mrs. Everett' ,Parker, of

the bride on Saturday, October

the dining room was reported as ,
first class' with the choicest wines,
liquors and cigars in the bar.
Tenders were being called for
mail contracts between Lochalsh
and Ripley to be run daily, six days
a week.

Farewell Party At
Hurorwilla, Ripley
A: farewell party was held in'
Ripley in Huronvilla lounge. A
large crowd attended, which num-
bered 28 Senior Citizens living in
the apartments. A short program
was held. Mrs. Francis. Gillies
gave a few words and told an Irish
story which caused lots of laughter.
Eileen Nesbitt was chairlady and
read an" appropriate' address to.
Chris and Connie Shelton who were
leaving to reside in their new home
in Dungannon. They were
presented with a beautiful clock by
Minnie Wylds. A reply was given
by Connie. Pictures were taken of
Connie and Chris and all the other
folks present. •
A bountiful lunch was served by
the ladies and all enjoyed a cup of
tea together. The remainder of the
evening was spent by playing cards
Which all enjoyed. Those attending
wished Mr. and Mrs. Shelton
happiness and' improved health in
Dungannon. "
MRS.. MRS. GLORIA RITCHIE
Mrs. Ritchie started working as
secretary at the' Lucknow Central
Public School following the retire-
ment of Mrs. Isobel MacKenzie.
Mrs. Ritchie had previously worked
as supply. secretary.. ,

FAIR •
Once again the Fall Fair has
come.. The teachers have been
busy putting up displays of school
work in the complex to be' judged.
A' here were many exhibits there.
This year instead of the classes
marching we 'had a bu,s decorated
by Mr.' Kummer and his class. The
Square Dancers rode on it. We
hope everyone enjoyed the Ripley
Fall Fair.
