by the Ministry of Natural Resources.

Murray had a long record of public
service in Kinloss, having served
as councillor, reeve, and as 1966
Warden of Bruce County.
Thieves entered the Crest Hard-
ware in 'Lucknow and stole rifles,
ammunition and watches.
William R. Nelson, police officer
for the Township of Whitechurch
near Newmarket, was engaged as
police officer for the village of
Lucknow.
Alvin Hamilton of... Lucknow
purchased the "express office"•
building on Lucknow's main street,
located next ,to Al's Mayfair
Restaurant.
West Wawanosh Township re-
stored ,,a pioneer cemetery and
erected .an attractive memorial to
the early pioneers on the sites'The
_cemetery, located on the 2nd
concession of West Wawanosh just
east of the Dungannon-Nile road,
had been in ruins.

al Plowing Match at Port Albert.
Mrs. J. C. Johnstone and her 10
month old son, Anthony Norman,
arrived from her native England to
join her husband here.. Mr. and
Mrs. Jolinstone met and married in
England 'While J. C. was with, the
6nadian Forces.
The new No. 6 ration books were
being issued* at the Town Office.
Sdhools in sections 5, 6 and 7 in
Huron Township were closed with
pupils attending other schools.
Clifton Ireland of Teeswater
succeeded A. W. Anderton of
Wingham as music supervisor at
Lucknow Public School.

Professor John Stothers has been
appointed' ChOrMan of.the DePart-
ment of Chemistry, University of
Western. Ontario. •
Mr, Stothers is a son of the' late
John Cannon Stothers who was
born and raised on the 9th
concession of Ashfield Township.
He 'is a brother of Mrs. Jean
(Stothers) Carruthers, formerly °of
this community and now a resident
of Ooderich. •
Professor Stothers was recently
indUcted into the -Royal Society of
Canada. The Society is a national
academy recognizing dikinction
and encouraging achievement in
the humanities, social sciences and
sciences. ,
He was born in London on April
16, 1931 and holds B.Sc. and M.Sc.
degrees from Western University
and a Ph,D. from McMaster.
Following graduation, he was
employed as, a research chemist for
Imperial Oil, then joined the faculty
of Western University in 1959.
An organic chemist, he is editor
of the Canadian Journal of Chemis-
try.

history took place on October 21,
1926, with the formal opening of
Lucknow's paved streets. There,
were three main feathres of the
afternoon rand evening, the formal
street opening with accompanying
ceremony; the banquet and the

Match Edition of "Bruce Beck-
ons". Unfortunately for me, three
of the Branches with staff in
Walkerton were left off the article
prepared for the paper. The
following is the rest of the article.
SOILS AND 'CROPS BRANCH
Rick Upfolci is the Soils and
Crops Specialist for Grey, Bruce
and Dufferin Counties. His work
involves all field crops grown in the
area.
MILK INDUSTRY BRANCH
Bob Ferguson is the' Area
Fieldman and Marvin Reid and
Arthur. Thompson are Fieldmen for
the Milk Industry Branch in Grey
and Bruce. .They inspect dairy
barns, transportation and proces-
sing facilities to ensure high quality
dairy products for consumers.
They also assist producers in
finding solutions to: quality prob-
lems on their farms.
ARDA BRANCH •
Ron Slade and Don Emke are the
ARDA Fieldmen tesponsible for
Bruce County, The farm enlarge-
ment program of leasing land to
existing, farmers has been the main
function of this branch in Brute.
