Ruth Henderson Is Band President • On Tuesday evening, September . 7, the Lucknow Concert Band held their first practice of thern 1976-77 season. • Elections were held for the new executive and the outcome was: Ruth Henderson, president; Elean- or Johnstone, vice president; Doreen Anderson, secretary-treas- urer and Norma MacIntyre, dues collector. The band has big plans for the upcoming year, starting this fall with the Lucknow Fall Fair, the Tiverton Fair and the Plowing Match. . . • With the continued support and . interest of the surrounding com- munities, the band is . looking forward to a busy and successful year. DAUGHTER KILLED , CONTINUED FROM PAGy 1 In the other northbound car were Mr. and Mrs. Randall William Daymon of R. 4 Seaforth, returning from their honeymoon. ,They were unhurt. • , Travelling in the southbound car were Mr. and Mrs. John Bannister of R. 1 Ailsa Craig who were treated for minor injuries at Exeter Hospital. Mrs. , Makas was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The intersection is the same one where three Londoners were killed in an accident on June 23. Mrs. Makas is survived by her husband, parents and- a brother Ivan; also grandparents Mrs. Pearl Wheeler and 'Mr. C. R. Coultes. The body rested at the S. J. Walker Funeral. Home, Wingham with funeral service at Knox United Church, Belgrave on Mon- day. Burial was at Brandon Cemetery, Belgrave. • Miss Lucknow was crowned on Saturday night at Lucknow Central - Public School. She is Janice Stanley, 17, daughter of Mr. and Mrs,. Ray Stanley of Kinloss and sponsored in ' the contest by Fisherman's Cove at Clam Lake. Sanice is a grade 13 student at, Walkerton District High. School and attended elementary school at Kinloss Central and Lucknow Central Public School. She will reign as Miss Lucknow Fall Fair as well. The contest was sponsored by Lucknow Agricultural Society. As winner she will be eligible to represent . Lucknow at the Miss Midwestern Ontario Beauty Con- test at Lucknow Fair this week. She will also represent Lucknow Fair at the Fairs Convention in Toronto this Winter' and at the Canadian National Exhibition Queen of the Fair‘ontest at the Ex next summer. " Runner-up for the awaccl was Mary Eadie of Holyrood, 17, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. ,Lorne, Eadie. She was sponsored , by HilraY Farms, Holyroocl. She is a grade 12 student at F. E. Madill Secondary School, Wingham. The other two contestants Were Stasia Purney, Lucknow,, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Art 1Purney and sponsored by Ashton's Ladies and ,Menls Wear,' Lucknciw; Mary Van Diepen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arie VanDiepen of the 2nd concession of Ashfield and spon- sored by McDonagh's Insurance in Lucknow. Judges for the contest were Joanne Palmer of Clinton, Miss Midwestern Ontario and Mr. and Mrs. Len McGregor of Clinton, Len being With the Ministry of Agricul- ture and Food. Vikki Bealey of Lucknow, .17, last year's Queen, crowned the winner.
